I thought you just yanked everything off and cap it off
then when it runs like crap, wonder what you did wrong.

I'm thinking of removing smog from my cruiser mostly because when I look under the hood my eyes roll back in my head and I have a mini seizure it's so crazy looking. Is JimC still selling these parts because there isn't much on his website. Certainly I don't see carburetors or Distributors.

I don't know why I would want to keep the smog especially since I live in rural PA with no smog rules. The smog just scares the crap out of me.

It's all there:

Hi, Most of the smog hoses are no longer available. Egr is probably not working right. Smog pump will soon ,if not already, seize up and leave you stranded. Countless vacuum hoses are rotten. .......Mike

Everything you just said is exactly what's swirling around in my head. I read the PDF instructions. How many hours does one estimate for a completion time for such a thing.?

If you have intake/exhaust leaks, that will slow you down. It's amazing how much engineering went into the smog system. But removing all that stuff will lighten the load and simplify not just your 60, but your spirit. Consider a Holley Sniper. Swapping out the mechanical fuel pump for a high pressure electric pump is the most unsavory part.

I have done that before on a 1982 Winnebago and it was a bitch ! I assume this would be a little easier. You eliminate the return line ??

Also check out this little gem I found sitting on top the motor. Variable pitch needle valve for fine tuning... HAHA

There are a few routes you can go on fuel delivery/return and even a way to keep your stock fuel pump. The only vac lines I have now are brake booster, PCV, ignition advance, and purge for charcoal cannister. You would have to buy an adapter to use your Toyota air cleaner. No HIC or choke to worry about.

This almost seems like the way to go. I'm seriously considering it. Seems like it may even be a more simple system to install and maintain then just flat out desmog. I guess I have to weigh out the benefits and such.

This is THE Guide! Wrapping up my full Jim C Desmog and Holley Sniper install. New Intake & Exhaust manifold gaskets, and removed the cats. Tossed in a new Saginaw PS pump while at it. The Desmog & Sniper Kit Solved all my vacuum leak issues, fires right up and runs super strong now. Tuning and will be GTG by Thursday.

Does your stock tach still work ?

@FJ60Cam is the expert with everything you need!

Man-a-Fre. Used to be in Simi Valley, CA but were bought by BTB products and now in Las Vegas, I believe.

So I see they have this kit available

Which is obviously more money that JimC's stuff but it seems like it has a little more to it than what JimC is selling. The EGR blank off plate has a tap for the PCV valve and I assume that would make life easier ??

I was planning on using my stock carburetor and distributor for now
