How much does your 13bt smoke?

Mine blows a little grey/blue on acceleration when cold. Then, once warmed up, under heavy load up a hill it will blow black. But, according to my GF who has followed me, not too bad. And I don't burn any oil.

Have you used Howe's yet. It works great to clean up your injectors. And a bottle of Lucas oil additive works well also.

Nice truck Gold Boy. I love the roof rack - just what I need.

Howes is the answer, hard to find in the US, seems that Mobil stations carry it. You NEED Howes, or Lucas or whatever to lubricate the injector pump, newer diesel fuels are super low sulfur, and aren't near as lubricating as they should be (apparently this is not a problem with bio-fuels). Use howes, or bye-bye injector pump

Most smoke is cause buy old injectors, mine are new and my truck doesn't some at all unless I really rev her out which almost never happens.

direct injected Toyota deiesl motors are prone to puffing out black when under throttle.
when you leave a smoke screen behind you then i would be concerned... crank up the fuel and when you have a tailgater then floor it... they won't stay there long...

Mine seems to be smoking a lot lately, hopefully its because I have only done short trips lately. Its not using oil.
Did 2000km 3 weeks ago and the guys following said smoke was negligible.

I also noticed your roof rack in the Rising Sun post. I am also looking for one. How about some pics of the mountings?

You can see where it rests on the rain gutters on the front/sides and I suspect that it also mounts to the gutter that runs along the back above the doors there.

Smoke in a diesel .. old oil, not enought air or the same thing much diesel than the engine can burn.

Inyectors .. yep maybe.
