I've got to thinking about replacing my alternator (or at least the brush set) on my 99 LC with 120k since my alternator just crapped out on me with no warning on my 93 Accord. It had 223k on the original alternator, so it's no big surprise to me.

Can you guys tell me how many miles your car has with the original alternator? I'd hate to be far from home if the alternator took a dump.

'86 Denso, 187K mi (94K mi during the last 5 yrs). I had a radiator hose leak, which dripped red coolant into the alternator (and drained out the bottom). Still, it never failed.

Mine died at 64k on my 99 LC. I think I'm the only LC in the world with an alternator failure before 100k.

109,000 and still going.....I hope I just didn't jinx it!

74 FJ-40 with about 120K I think (The speedometer cable broke at 78,883.7 in 1982). It has been driven alot since then. It is still the origional alternator. God I hope I just didn't jinx myself!

109k on my 99 and 203k on my 80. I wouldn't replace it until it croaked.

120,000+ on a '99 still tickin'

126k on the 100. 189k on the 40 ( :

I ahve tore in to a couple that were around 175 -200k to just replace the brushes on the newer style alt, these are designed for around 225-250k miles looking at the brush thickness of the new vs the old one that came out. the bearing seemed to want to last the same type of milage as long as you can put up with a little noise (meaning they are starting to get dry). later robbie

123k on my original

'99 - the alternator went out at about 112k.

162K and still works. It's been submerged in mud, water, caked with sand, clay and all the above. She's a tough cookie.

13 years, and 180k on original battery, and alternator on my 99 LX.

Orig battery???? That's a ticking bomb.

Sent from my iPad 2 using IH8MUD

Yep! I can't believe the battery has survived this long... I know I'll have to replace it soon.
