love it! thanks for all the responses. been watching a rig with ~220k, I'm gonna go look at the FAQs so I know what questions to ask. thanks again

125K on a '97. Even lifted it drives nicer than most new vehicles I've been in. Most likely the last truck I'll own.

412k miles. Crankshaft's bearings were changed around 261k. It' a -90 years 4.2td. Great engine! Most of the 80's here in Finland have mileage like mine.

287.000 on a LC 80 from 1994

Just breaking in at 138k!

95 IFZE with 160k original. 3rd owner. As far as I know the work its needed was the valve cover gasket let go driving from Colorado to North Carolina, fixed myself in an afternoon.

96 LX with 133K and original head gasket. Driven about 3k to 5k a year. Everything base lined and maintained.

1996 with 167k miles
Haven't owned it a year yet but it will probably average around 5k miles a year.

Head gasket gave out a few weeks ago, just replaced.

1994 with 205k miles. Original head gasket. Change the oil every 5k and the other fluids when they need it. It's the pro-party camping-, offroading-, roadtripping-mobile. I've looked, but i can't find another vehicle that does so many things so well. Nothing will stop it, except for a gas station.

290k. Unopened original motor with regular maintenance. Has a couple of small leaks, but nothing major. Plan on driving it the way it is and turbocharging it soon too. When/if it ever goes I'll build another motor to go in

241k on mine, or .241 million miles (that made me laugh).
Non daily driver with various duties from weekend toy, tailgating rig, motorcycle trailer dragger, camping rig, baja bounder. Would drive anywhere without hesitation because I PM'd the crap out of it when I bought it. Runs like a plush tractor. Original motor and HG.

96 IFZ-FE 160k miles ...original head gasket ..fluids done once a year ...

my advice having bought a low mileage 80 a year ago:
mileage doesn't matter. the lower mileage 80s usually don't have seals in as good of condition. mine has 133k and i have to add a quart of oil every 6 months because of a seap in the rear main seal. the ones with 200-300k are typically in the best condition. the transmissions are good for 250-350k which is as good if not better than any other off road vehicle tranny. if you maintain the motors properly you might not have to do any serious motor work besides the head gasket for the first 500k. very reliable powertrain if you can put up with the 11-12 mpg city

my advice: wait and find the 80 you want that already has lockers and any modifications you want like bumpers s/c lift kit etc. you'll end up spending a lot less if you dont have to buy those things yourself.

mine is a dd because its my only car, i use it for offroad fun, driving to work, getting to the hard to get to fishing spots, going to Texas Rangers games because every Lexus gets free valet parking :D

so far it looks like brake pad replacement is an almost yearly thing (60/axle from toyota). oil changes are easy to do yourself. since ive got it ive done the high pressure power steering hose (no surprise the 17 year old rubber was ready to go), ac clutch assembly, brakes and an oil change. also you can buy a parts motor for about $700 which you could meticulously rebuild in your spare time to swap in and have no worries.

sh3pherdd-- thank you- that is what I wanted to believe but hearing someone else say it makes me feel better --

thanks for all the input everyone

235k on mine.

My 1992 has about 175k. I can't remember exactly what my parent's 1995 has, but it's over 200k. The guy I bought my Cruiser from said their friend has a 199? Cruiser with over 500k on the original motor.

319k on original motor and PHH. Starts every time and is almost as much fun to wrench on as my old 6.2 diesel GMC truck. This forum has given me so much support. What are you waiting for? Jump in and kiss your expendable cash good bye! Bought it sight unseen because it is the best color for high mileage cruisers....WHITE!

225K on a 94 still catching up on service from the PO but she runs good and even better after some much needed PM
