How many miles are you getting out of a full tank?

I'm running mostly at sea level, mostly highway. On 87 octane gas I'm getting about 320-360 miles on a tank. Is that typical?

edit: '94 on 295/75R16, 190,000 miles

funny thing is i was trying to figure something strange out yesterday dealing with this..... i can get about 175miles town 190 highway on the first half tank. After the needle reaches halfway mark, the second half of the tank seems to go much quicker.

By full tank, do you mean you running it down to about nothing? This time of year I get 280 to 300 (mixed driving) when the light comes on. If you're getting 320 or more before the light comes on, that's very good.

Not enough.

How and the heck are you guys getting that kind of mileage. Before mods, my record Hwy tank was 260 Miles to the light. With an StL to Chic Tailwind.

Now I'm at 220, with mods. (tires). Stl To Chicago.

I get 270 or so out of mine as it sits. I have maintained the crap out of it, am the second owner, and the original owner took even better care of it.

mmm, Yuppy, this better be all 25 gals or there is something wrong with your rig and somebody will come and steal it shortly and sell it on ebay as yet another miraculous artifact... :)

My city mileage sucks. I don't often get to use a whole tank for exclusively highway driving, but I have used three tanks this week doing exactly that. It was the first opportunity I had to monitor the highway mileage. My speedo is buggy when it's wet outside, but it's been running flawlessly all week (no rain lately).

I forgot to add that I've been running mostly with windows up, sunroof open and very occasional a/c (about a half-hour AC yesterday and that's it). And I have the OEM rear spoiler andf no mud-flaps.

I run it down as much as I dare, because my low-tank warning light doesn't work. I don't want to push my luck.....

My first tank of gas was 220 miles until the light came on (11.3MPG); all stock. My most recent was 266 miles (14.5MPG). About a month ago I got 288 (15.2MPG) -- best ever.

Around town, I generally fill up as soon as the light comes on. When on road trips, I fill up at about 1/4. On adventure trips, any opportunity when the tank is below 3/4.

Gotta like getting better and better mileage over time... even with adding accessories, armor, bigger tires, moving from sea level to 7300 feet. :)

Coming home from Moab I burned 91 gallons of fuel and averaged 14.74mpg. That's Moab Utah to my door in Houston, TX.

usually 250 mi. per tank in-town...285-300 hwy only trips. 320-360 is phenominal and outta the bell curve

Wow. I must be speshul and got the LX Gasmileage package. Ive gotten as high as 420 miles out of a single tank (filled up totally and run down 30 miles after the light came on, 23.9 gallons total=17.5 avg.). That was empty (no third row seats, people or gear)with stock size michelins at sea level doin 62mph average. I average about 370 a tank when on the highway and drivin like a puss..330-350 if i have gear with me. And about 290-330 when I do alot of city drivin. The last data points are corrected mileage using 7% difference when going to 285/75's.

Its still not enough........I'm savin my pennies to do that Indian Air Engine swap....Think of how fast I could air up the tires after wheelin with that tank....

How many gallons are you using?

I never look, but I will next time. I just fill 'er up and take a deep breath.

Of course our gas is sold in litres not gallons.

Never more than 200. Usually, there's a trail on the tank.
Wife's will get around 300.

I think I was only getting 11 mpg so..................

City driving, I fill my '96 (stock with M/T tires and ARB front bumper) at 240 miles, and I usually put 80 liters (21 Gal) (cdn $93.00!!! last time) in the tank.

11.4 MPG

(2.58 MP$cdn)

(2.81 MP$us)

- What's your MP$ ?
