mine is an 89 and quite modified but still alive. i stole parts off two other early 62s that are in a wrecker though so two less in my neck of the woods that will unfortunately end up crushed

I've got an 89 FJ62 that I use as a daily driver and weekend warrior with 280K miles on it, tranny still works... for now lol

I have a 89 FJ62 and have seen probably 3-4 running around town. Drove mine last night, it no longer has the original motor or trans, but everything else on it works. Love that truck!

Head north from where you live and you'll be able to verify what I've posted here before - "Santa Fe is the Land Cruiser wagon capital of the world".

This came up in another thread yesterday to which one of the guys stated that only 17k FJ62s were ever brought into the US and sold. By now with the Obama Cash for Clunkers program, the prevalent tranny A440 issues that can plague these cruisers if not well maintained and other such items there is probably considerably less still available. I know of three in my town personally, one of which is currently in a state of flux and being worked on. The other two are heavily modified. I bet there is probably less than half as many were brought in still left on the road.

Not that I want yall all down here running up the prices, as Im in the market for one, but I live in Austin, TX and they are everywhere here. I can name just on my drive to work, at least 9 that I pass. There are a few members of the forum on here, and there are some that are VERY nice. A couple of Cummins swaps, a couple of GM V8 swaps, and a slew of nice originals. Right behind my place of work is a nice gold 62, appears all stock, and gets driven a few times a week. Ive had some casual conversations with the owner and they dont seem of any mind to sell.

My oldest son owns a 1989, around 195,000 miles. Runs really good has some rust as it lived most of its 27 years in Alaska.

Checking in with a two tone '89. my dad and I drove it off the lot. Stock except for the suspension, 225K miles (about 50k in Baja). Runs great and most everything works thanks to all the tech support/info here on Mud.

Me too, please
See link in Post #22 above. I just reinstalled my wiper motor and linkage yesterday and I'll be trial fitting my 4-Runner arms on my '86 FJ60 later this morning - will post some photos later today.

Here's a detailed close-up of the installed arm with bolt cover - looks a lot nicer than I thought it would.

I've got an 11/89 Freeborn Red with VIN JT3FJ62G2L1120695 running around Austin. 144,000 on the clock. I frequently see about a half dozen others that I see on the streets whose owners I don't know...yet.

Does anyone else have the VIN laser etched on their window glass? Mine is etched on all glass except the rear passenger window- so I assume that one got replaced somewhere along the way. I heard it may have been a dealer option? My '86 FJ60 definitely did not have this.
