How long are the motors good for?

I've been parusing (Spelling?) the 80/100 classified forums lately because I want a camping vehicle to do stuff like the PI trip with the family. Unfortunately my price range puts me in the vehicles that have about 220K miles on them. If the maintenance has been done per recommended frequency at what mileage would you, the avid reader, begin to get concerned with failures of things like piston rings, valves, etc.? When does major engine maintenance become a concern. Is it worth another 10K to get a vehicle in the low 100K mile range? Discuss and thanks.

I kind of picked up on 300k as the number when I was doing my research. Then rebuild it, lather, rinse, repeat. Don't forget that head gaskets are considered routine maintenance.

There is no shortage of soccer mom 100's in CLT. Still some 80's to be found, too, but definitely more 100's.

i was burning just a little oil (about a 1.5qts a month "daily driving") when my head gasket let go at 286K. refreshed the motor throughout, Runs like a new one now.

Ok rafael...Where's the unlike button? I'm at 270k

Have read a couple times and beno quotes teq specs of 3 rebuilds at 300k each so near a million mile block life. That is of course if you dot muck up the oil pump bushing. Luckily Landtank has made that a source able item

Hehehe. I know i know they get to 300k and more. But, hg, front seal, oil pump seal, etc for someone that cannot make these repairs themself most likely will go earlier than 300k.

As was said. With a 1FZ motor plan on going thru it around 300,000 miles.

my ole 3fe likely rolled 300k+ I just fed it the old oile from my wifes car....if it aint leaking , its empty...
