I have an Android unit and the sound stopped after 4 years. I put the stock Head unit back in and still no sound

It did happen once 4 years ago and I wiggled the F1 connector and it started working again.

That and the wiring diagram are covered in this thread. Post 10 includes the wiring diagram
Stereo sound died - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/stereo-sound-died.1224970/#post-13356203

I checked the F1 connector in the Passenger kick panel and don't see any damage. Will clean with contact cleaner later.

The amplifier is easy enough to get to and remove. Even though the 200 is right hand drive, the method should be the same under the left seat.

Any tips on checking out the amplifier or anything else before I tear into it more?

Hey Ken, have you tried accessing the head unit’s system check/diagnostic menu?

In my 2011 after the sound stopped working, the system check showed me everything appeared to be connected and receiving signals, which led me to thinking the amp was the culprit. In my case it was, putting in a rebuilt amp restored the sound.

Nice, I will have to add that to the FAQ

I got no error codes and then I disconnected the F1 connector and still got no error codes

Is there something special you need to do to run the right diagnostic? I did every button and saw thee steering wheel buttons worked, GPS is locked on, etc

I would have expected the one with the AMP communication to be active. How did that tell you it was the AMP

I appreciate your help

I won’t claim to have done the most scientific diagnosis. It was somewhat an educated wild guess. I decided to go the rebuilt amp route after all the diagnostics came back as OK.

Edit: My 2011 uses a different menu format so the AMP shows on its Home Screen, not sure how the 2013 works. Press the MOST option to access the next page for AMP?

I don't think this checks my AMP. I get the same results with F1 connected or disconnected and this is what I see when pressing the Most button

I lifted the front seat and looked at the amplifier. The fan isn't spinning. So either it is bad or not getting power. More to come

Looking like there is no power to the amp. I did verify the fuses that provide power. It goes from the fuse box, to the Driver kick panel over the the center of the dash and then down to the amp under the drivers seat. I will have to track the path.

Using a probe it looked like no power to the amp. I used a small wire and verified 12V on both Amp1 and Amp2 inputs and that the ground input was tied to chassis

Bad Amplifier

I am ordering a replacement (Refurbished) on eBay. It would be a bit cheaper to send mine in and have it repaired, but this way I will get a replacement within a week and send the old one back for a credit.

It was a bad amplifier. Replaced and working great

Key is if there is power and ground and the fan is not running, then the AMP is dead

I’m just realizing my amp is probably dead. Any suggestions on purchase/repair?

I bought my replacement on ebay. Make sure you have the part n umber for your year. The seller provides two options 1) Buy a refurb unit and send back yours for a credit, 2) Send him yours and he will troubleshoot and repair. I wanted it fixed faster so I went with option 1

This is the sller I bought it from. It was an easy experiance

I was planning on pulling the amp today. Is there any potential collateral damage to running/driving the truck sans amp until I get it fixed/replaced? Potential damage to infotainment?

None that I am aware of or experianced. I can't gaurantee anything though :)

found it under the drivers seat, i thought i felt plastic under the drivers and decided to pull passenger…. The boxes under there didn’t look like amps

Is the fan running on it? that is how I knew mine was bad along with verifying 12V at the connector

I disconnected the battery before tilting seats, paranoid about air bag.

The fan spins freely, I was expecting it to be solid.

I was expecting to see a blown capacitor, and a bit more:

Do you have a photo of the other side of the circuit board?

Worth Cleaning:
-all that dust on the right side of the board

Worth testing:
-Filter Coils
-MOSFETS
-All capacitors

Worth Checking:
-passenger and driver side wiring harnesses near the door sills. These can get wet and grow copper-sulfate cheese on the connectors. Remove the 10mm bolt and inspect all of the male pins and female connectors. Clean with electric parts cleaner and apply dielectric grease to the female connector, if everything is intact. I'd recommend this as a first step, but since you have the amp out, you may as well get the multimeter to work as well.
