How long do you let your 200 sit without running the engine or driving it? (1 Viewer)

Mine's sat at times for a couple of weeks. I have a CTEK battery charger I attach if I think I won't be running it for a while. Or if I'm messing with it and leaving the doors open all day.

My Miata has been in a storage unit since mid November. There's no power there, so the battery is in the garage on a NOCO trickle charger that runs an hour a day. I over inflate the tires, put Stabil in the tank, and that's it. I also set out several snap traps on the floor, just to check. Been doing that for 6 years now.

Next week I'll drop the battery back in, reset the tire pressures, and bring it home. Will change the oil soon.

A friend is an exterminator. The ONLY thing that works on mice is snap traps. Oils, dryer sheets, moth balls, blah blah blah... Waste of money. They do not care.

Only thing I ever use. The wood ones don't have a sensitive trigger. Have caught over 100 mice in these over the years. Peanut butter on the plate.

We don't deal with too many rodent/varmint issues, cold winters I suppose. But it's on my mind, particularly after having helped friends/customers deal with chewed wires, nesting, etc. I've been using Grandpa Gus's Extra-Strength Mouse Repellent Pouches. A freind in NM found them extremely effective on pack rats under the hood. I put one on each tire and another under the hood. I've got no real evidence one way or the other.

Those days were highlights in my life :D

I still pull personal Cruisers in and out of that shop. Sadly 13th is getting busier and busier. Hope you're well.
And I'll bet your neighbors miss seeing all the cruisers of all ages and builds that used to populate your 'hood!!

Knock sensor harness is good to have sitting around.. 82219-60090 and it's not too expensive. Can be changed in under a couple hours, and having it on hand really reduces the inconvenience if mice get in there.

Oh there are more Cruisers there then ever. The neighbor to the south recently moved into a retirement facility and the house sold to a family friend of theirs. I was extatic to meet him and find he owns a BJ43 and a GX470. 😎

If you’re worried about mice and can’t do goats like baller @ryanCA , get some feral cats. Feed them just enough to not starve and eventually they will start to hunt. I used to be hugely anti-cat. Now I have 4 outside cats (long story). I haven’t seen any mice evidence since approx. a month after getting the cats. The soy stuff they use for wiring insulation apparently is quite attractive to the little b@st@rds. So yeah, let nature take its course.

Lots of good battery advice above. I’ve got a noco I use if I’m going to be gone for more than a week. For fuel, I used to be a big sta-bil guy, but now I use PRI-G for gasoline and PRI-D for diesel. Supposedly this stuff is “better” for fuel longevity and fuel systems. I don’t know. I haven’t had issues with sta-bil, but apparently the “pri” stuff can recondition old fuel. YMMV I suppose.

Just this line of thinking puts you ahead of most car owners of actually caring about your ride’s longevity. 👍🏻

There is nothing baller about my goats. They were free. THey multiply.

Since we have a large operational farm, they are necessary to keep the mice away, which end up eating my tacoma and tundra wiring harnesses.

They dont touch the ugly 200s - as they are disgusted by the Highlander as most are..

You are definitely living the Land Cruiser dream Kurt. Enjoy and if you ever get out to Santa Barbara, look me up. Same phone number.

Beside a CTEK charger, keeping the tank topped off or pretty full and some peppermint mice repellent I would run the engine and drive a few miles every month or so to keep the AC compressor and seals therein moving.
