How do you get the copper crush washer off the engine oil drain plug?

I was doing my oil change and I couldn't get the copper washer off the drain plug, the person that did the last oil change torqued it wayyyy too high.
I ended up using another drain plug that I had laying around, it was a little longer than the one I took off but it fit regardless.
I used this gasket https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Toyota-Drain-Gaskets-90430-12031/dp/B007OW6MD6 on the new plug, Does anyone have a trick to get the old copper one off?

Very carefully with an ice pick.
 
When they are badly over-torqued like that...the washer material gets 'squished' into the threads of the bolt (or just under the threads) and the washer can not be removed (by hand).

I use a thin bladed flat screwdriver and a small hammer to 'lift' one edge of the washer...then use diagonal cutters to cut as far as possible into the washer. A good pair of pliers can then be used to grab the washer and twist it off the bolt. Be careful not to bugger up the threads of the bolt.
 
For what it's worth, I changed the fluids in my FZJ80 for 10 years and never replaced a single drain plug gasket on my oil pan, t-case, or diffs. No leaks during those 10 years. Just leave it on.

Even better, buy a Fumoto F-105 drain valve. You'll never have to remove it again. Or if you feel you'll ever need to connect a hose to the outlet of it, get a F-105N for a few extra bucks.
I used a new one I had from before and a new washer.
