Hey all,
I've had the 62 for almost two months now. One thing that has occured to me as I make my list of projects is...How do I know what has been done to the truck already? The PO only had the truck for 6 months, and he got it from OK and I'm in NY so no good way to track down the PPO.

Things I'm thinking about are: what axles do I have, what gear set up is it. what is the displacement of the engine. are the leaf springs factory or aftermarket.

I know alot of this could be cleared up by any of you who saw the truck in person, but to this point I have not met a single other cruiser owner.

I know the engine and transmission were rebuilt 50k ago, but I don't know if they just went all stock or what.

It has a 2.5" OME lift, but I don't know what parts were from the kit and what are aftermarket.

Thanks to anyone who can help shed some light on this for me.

Ohh yeah...I rebuilt the knuckles already so I've seen the front axles already, but don't know what to compare them to, to know if they are stock (or ever original stock vs. new stock)

best thing to do would be to get in contact with a local cruiser club. They will be able to tell instantly like you said.

Other than that you have two options: Learn as you go and tinker or post up pics and ask specific questions. If you post pics you will get immediate answers.

Oh, and welcome! :flipoff2:

Yeah, take it one item at a time. If something's working good, don't worry about what it is. If something is not working good, post a picture-ask-and ye shall receive.

Thanks. I'll post pictures as I continue to tinker. I think I"m going to straighten the steering wheel today. I've done all my home work and will go work on adjusting the drag link. To bad I just had the truck sprayed with undercoating. Guess that's what gloves are for.

Howdy! Thre are only a few upgrades that can be done without looking obvious, especially if you have a factory ( or even a Haynes) shop manual to compare to. If your rig is not imported from a foreign market, it should have the 3FE gasoline engine, which is a fuel injected, slightly de-stroked version of the venerable F/2F that Landcrusier has used for 25 or 30 years. If it is an automatic transmission, there is only about one that will fit/match up, which is the original. If you bought parts for the axle service, then you know if they are original, and the diferentials should be a 4:10 ratio without any lockers, unless they have be upgraded. That can be tested easily on a set of jackstands. John

As to the OME lift, it's all aftermarket so there you go. Browse the pages of SOR's online catalog and you'll find schematics of all the parts. If it's different than SOR, then it's been altered.
