How Did I Do?

@FreebirdFirebird, I noticed "my Next Project" was gone from its inconspicuous location.:crybaby: I figured it would be safe until I could gather some more resources before going to retrieve my bounty.:bang: Well, alas, you beat me to it!! Congratulations Brother!!!

I liked it because it was still "stock" even though it had a color change. Stock steelies, riveted I believe, all five hub caps. ( Those hub caps are important, I hear back in the day that would be the first thing stolen off any vehicle!!):hillbilly:

I had planned on bring it back the the original "sky blue" color and putting a tan color factory soft top on it. I believe those colors fit well together, 2.5 OEM lift, 8724 warn .....then:steer: the wheels off of it.

Just curious how much did it take to "leave the farm" with it?

Wow, what a small, small world.

Sorry about your luck, but you can take solace in the fact that it went to a good and caring home :). I also plan to keep it relatively stock, though I will probably not go back to the "sky blue" color. And you can look at it this way, I just saved you lots of time, stress, heartache, and money .

What I find so hard to believe is that someone else actually saw it, realized what it was, and inquired about it; not to mention that you are a member of MUD and found it again o_O. A friend went with me when I picked it up and he couldn't believe that I saw it from the adjacent interstate, I was like :meh:, I see stuff like this all the time ;).

He was asking $2500 for it, but I offered him $1500 and he took it. I probably should have offered him less, but oh well.

FYI, the engine is not locked up. I let it soak in Kroil Oil/Marvel Mystery Oil for a few days and I turned it over by hand . It's going to be a long road, but I am really excited about it.

All so true, maybe especially the last.

Awesome. I was going to say not to put water into it until you had it turning over. Did you drain the oil? How'd it look? If I were you, I'd check the valve adjustment cold and just make sure none are stuck or way out of adjustment, then do a preliminary compression check.

And yes, the oil pump priming is the same as a Chevy. From everything I've read, getting the dizzy to drop all the way back in is a bit trickier maybe.

If you remove the dizzy make darn sure it is completely seated. It is very possible to get it seated enough to crank and NOT pump oil. Trust me on that one. You can remove the oil filter, crank it over, and see if oil pumps up into the filter housing to make sure the oil pump is pumping.
