REZARF said:FWIW, this summer I removed the top and didn't have a tailgate fabbed up so I just ran without one. I left the license plate in the bed of the 40 all summer... never got pulled over either!

If you mean slit 4" pipe lengthwise and use the cut halves stood up as corners, that would have the addl advantage of providing a place to line with camper tape to keep scratches to a minimum on the cooler's corners.REZARF said:...I am thinking 4" pipe will work well....

So how's the rigidity of it with the tire's weight on it throughout it's swing?
Any instability or flexing when it's perpindicular to the bumper?
How did you end up welding the base of the main pin?
Did you just weld it do the top of the main bumper tube or did it need reinforcement inside the tube?
Any pics of that part?
