Hi everyone!

I recently joined the family with a 93' FZJ80 JDM cruiser. I am excited to get working on this truck. It's my new daily so, and I have lots of ideas to get started on. Firstly I have some questions I hope y'all can help with. The tire carrier light is on all the time, even when the tire rack is locked. Anybody have a fix for that? Also I'm having trouble actually finding a tire mount to put on the rack. My cruiser has a fridge/freezer which is awesome, but I think a normal center console with cupholders and a nice arm rest would serve me better. Can anyone recommend one that's for RHD cruisers. Lastly, the hood does not pop up when I pull the hood lever, and it also visibly looks loose when I drive. Is that fix just new struts or do I need a spring to keep it under tension?

Forgive me for any formatting errors, and sorry I didn't post a pic of the whole truck I'll get around to that. I decided to name her Mean Greenie. She's got an aftermarket army green color, which I like but hope to repaint down the line to an OEM color. My dad had a 98' GMC suburban that he put approx 300000 miles on and he called it Mean Green, so in a way my trucks kind of a successor. Anyway thanks in advance for any advice!

If you aren't looking specifically for an OEM console to replace your fridge console take a look at the Delta VS center consoles. I love mine. They have a model for RHD and for manual transmissions if you have that.

Oh, and welcome to MUD.

My wife’s 93 hdj81, the hood would pop up either, after the hood would stay up last weekend, new struts were installed . Pops up fine now. Go figure. And I would like to remove the fridge console for something a little more functional. Those boxes look nice, hmmm? $$$$

Replace the hood struts AND adjust your hood cushions. They screw up and down. That will put pressure on the hood and make it solid while driving. It will also help the hood pop when you pull the lever.

Welcome to the madness, she's a beauty right there. Start a new thread introducing yourself and your ride here then come to the monthly breakfast meeting happening this sat. Breakfast at Daily grind is the thread discussing details.

Cool colour, pics of the whole car!

There is a 'tire half-lock' switch on the tail gate, looks similar to a standard door switch. Yellow/Black wire. Pop out your lower tailgate trim panel and check it out, probably just worn out. Hopefully an easy & cheap fix!

The fridge runs off of the AC system. Luckily in the 80s each AC zone (Fridge/dash/rear) can be run seperately, but you will need to blank off the refrigerant lines to the fridge and blank off the hole it'll leave in the floor pan. You may need to make sure it's set to OFF before removing.

Just checked mine. Looks like the carrier doesn't even touch it when closed. Thinking maybe the whole carrier itself was messed with when imported becuse it doesn't have part that a spare can attach to as seen in the pictures. Can you send me a picture of your carrier making contact with the switch?

I don't actually have one sorry, that's just from google.

I'd just drill a hole through that tab that makes contact with the switch, short bolt and nut will get you there. Black would look factory.
