very cool thread. Always willing to look at something that might help with fuel efficiency - whether gas is 2.40 or 4.40 - if it helps...
I'm not sold on this, but definitely interested. I remember enough from science classes - you can't get free energy (unless you are stealing gas).

Pretty much. The energy still ain't free (you gotta pay for the parts, replace the stainless steel plates/rods eventually, pay for the baking soda and distilled water, and of course it draws some current from your electrical system), but from the sounds of it, it'll help offset the money you're spending on gasoline enough to make it pay for itself over time.
