@Delta VS should be working on a dash replacement. Dont think they are but matching the shifter console and center console they make would be extra blocky and expandable.

There is A LOT going on in those pieces, would be incredibly difficult to make one that works well and doesn't cost so much nobody is interested.

On topic of this thread, there are TWO 95+ 80s listed locally to us right now that are both OVER 20k, one is a 40th and one is triple locked. Seems like you can ask whatever you want and someone will pay these days.

Just looked at the ad for the 40th. Have been after a sage 40th for a while but it's become insane. It's in kind of meh condition and someone will pay close to his ask I am willing to bet.

Same feelings here. It's pretty crazy.

Why?

granted I have an OBD 1 rig but that aside I don't think it will make any difference. Other than there are airbags. BUT OBD1 rigs offer a much simpler vehicle that’s extremely easy to wrench on. Keep in mind our rigs (obd1 or 2) are very simple and easy to diagnose if you are capable of learning the FSM and the system.

So IMO the more easily triggered CEL of the OBD2 is less desirable than the CEL in the OBD1 rig that only fires of it sees something major. (also I can pull my codes with the flick of a switch and a breeze through my fsm on the dash mounted iPad).

I think there are advantages and disadvantages to both OBD’s, however I think people will buy for the interior and safety features over the onboard diagnostic systems.

I personally like the 91-94 dash waaaaay more than I like the 95-97 (obd2) dash
Less vacuum lines mess to contest with, less parts to maintain. Oh and I can strap a power add on it and not melt it down.

Any 1fz-fe can be boosted with Haltech ECU's on the market now. And I've replaced the vacuum lines once in 5 years... People just have a hard-on for OBD2 and think that OBD1 is a major issue, those people usually have no experience with OBD1. Remember these are stupid simple engines, it's not like a DI turbo/supercharged german engine with ECU's controlling ECU's that control more ECU's... The pre 95 rigs do have advantages such as factory over the frame exhaust and a bus transmission.

I think it will be interesting to see what the future holds when it comes to collector valuation between the 93-94 version and the 95-97 version, assuming both are stock, unmodified, mint, and with equal mileage. I'm going to bet it'll be a toss-up, they will be hard if not impossible to find in that condition, and when you do you'll pay a premium. In fact, I'd go on to say that if you are looking for a mint 80 with low mileage and no modifications, first of all, it's going to take a while to find, secondly, when you do find it you'll pretty much have to grab it regardless of its OBD setup.

Toyota Camry dash 🤮 😁
lol if you've ever noticed they both are generally the same as Camry dash's. The 91-94 resemble the 91-96 Camry dash and the 95-97 are similar to the 97-02 Camry dash.

I think it’s because the peoples believe there is better support for them. Turbos and superchargers are designed around the OBDII system. The Scanguage plugs right in.

Plus there’s this belief the airbag trucks are safer.

I personally really prefer the 442. The early grill is best, hands down. The three spoke steering wheel I also like a lot, a new one is really rad. I also like that Camry dash. 😝

Other than that I like the 95-97 more. And yes we know the grill can be changed.

I am a cloth guy too, which is far easier to find in the 93/94’s. I got lucky though with a cloth 95 that’s locked.

Cheers

Oh and last August, a guy working for me bought a really nice LX locally for $8k. It had 200,000 on it and $8k in upgrades. It also had over $6k in receipts for recent work although it was low quality work.

There has also been a decent look LX on local CL for months now, $7k.

So you can still find them.

Cheers

So I did some searching on BaT... very impressed.

I've never heard of the site before, what is it? Online auction? Is it like *the* place to sell Cruisers (because from the cash they sell for, I'm thinking yes)?

BAT used to be a classifies side for mostly race cars and parts. Now it an Auction side that is Curated by them. They used to only allow select rare examples of vehicles. However now they seem to have opened up the gates.

That's where I'd list it...

Yeah, I read up on their process. I think after I get things all tidied up with the old boy, I'll try them first before I put it on Craigslist by itself (I'll definitely put the ad up with the link to the BaT site tho...). That's awesome! What great info. Thanks again.

I've watched some people put stuff up for auction there and from what I have seen it is far more interactive. while it is up for auction the owner/seller is available to answer questions and will take additional pictures as requested etc.

The gauges look like leftovers from the LS400 And personally I like the earlier models - better
