Ok followed the instructions & no dc @ pin 8. So it's the ECU or wiring. Any suggestions on the best way to go about it?

1) have you looked for voltage at the ECU?

2) you mentioned doing some pm recently. Did you attempt to remove the screws on the air flow meter (AFM) on top of the air filter housing? This can cause your symptoms.

3) you said your fusible links "looked good". Have you verified their continuity with a meter? They can look ok but not be ok. At your milage it is probably worth your $10 to replace them.

Hope this helps

You are not reading the flowchart correctly. It says,
"If +12 on pin 8 and still no CEL, then EFI
circuit OK and problem is with ECU or related wiring."
You said you were NOT getting +12 on pin 8. That means that the EFI relay is still open.

Haven't checked voltage @ ECU yet can't find it. Voltage @ fusible link is good. Yes I did remove screws from afm but have double checked there looks good?

If you removed the 2 Phillips screws and pulled on the connector then you have screwed the pooch on your AFM.

X2 fought a very similar issue on a 93 Lexus LS400, without AFN signal to the ECU there will be no spark or injector signal either. Replaced the AFM and viola! Also same problem on a 92 Infiniti q45 that I bought to swap the motor into a 91 pathfinder. Swap the AFM and see it that works.

Yes and no. You will get spark and all the good EFI stuff with the AFM disconnected, but you won't get the fuel pump to fire correctly. However if the internals of the AFM are shorted this will prevent the EFI circuit from energizing. A simple test would be to unplug the AFM by LIFTING THE SPRING CLIP ON THE CONNECTOR. If the CEL illuminates with the AFM disconnected, then you have found your issue.

Ok so it was the AFM. I soldered the connection back on to v2 & e2, CEL now comes on, code blinks normal. It still won't start gets real close putters than nothing!

I had this problem last week. No CEL, no start. Turned out to be a loose/burnt EB1 connection. Thank you Christo for finding that. If you're standing by the driver's front tire and looking at the fuse box in the engine bay, my EB1 was directly between the fuse box and the engine, almost touching the engine. It's gray and had one wire going in and one wire going out. YMMV. Good luck!

Dumbed down for those who aren't terribly mechanically inclined. There was a lot of explanation of the testing procedure that led to the conclusion that I left out for the sake of concision.

Ok I finally got it thank you all for helping. Here's what happened , I was removing air filter housing to clean & make room to change fuel filter,plugs,dist.....etc. I thought the 2 Phillips screws were holding a wire harness connection nope. Inside the AFM 2 of the wires are soldered to a circuit board of sorts & I pulled those. I was able to carefully re-solder & instantly CEL came back on. It wouldn't start because when I reinstalled plug wires I confused firing order with actual plug order & bam fired right up & running great! I did mention I am not a mechanic or have any training I just do what the book says. Lesson learned don't mess with the wires to AFM.
