I have a 1993 fj80 and so far has worked wonderfully!BUT this morning i went to start it and it acted as if the battery was dead but didnt click or anything. There is a small redlight that now comes on when the key is turned forward above the battery gauge. Switched the battery out with a new battery a few minutes ago but now there is a clicking sound almost like a turn signal click under the dash by the brake pedal and the door open light on the instrument panel is flashing along with the lights on the heater/ac controls and the clock! I have no idea what she is trying to tell me !!! PLEASE HELP!

It's the security system. Hopefully you have the key fob for it because mine did it after disconnecting the battery for valve cover gasket replacement and again when I switched the battery out. Both times I had to come in the house and hunt for fob. Good luck, I don't have a clue what to do if you don't have the fob. I've tried removing mine but its complicated so I just disconnected the siren thing in the engine bay.

It's not really complicated. You can just remove the T-harness from under the steering column and you're done.

Sweet mine looks a little more complicated than that. Not sure if its factory or aftermarket. Securit sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks guys!!! just got done reading the thread and started to investigate under the steering column and was worried when i didnt see the alarm box..discovered that this was a aftermarket system and a two part system. after tracing a few wires and disconnecting them the old 80 fired right up! so again thank you for the help you guys are life savers!!!!

another problem another day... lol so the other night after removiing the alarm system the truck started as it should and drove it around for awhile. Now as of this morning it will not start again with the same little red light on above the battery gauge. The battery is brand new! When I turn the key to start the motor will not turn over or anything.All of the gauge lightscome on like they always do but just like before there is nothing behind the key when i go to start it! I'm out of ideas now!!!!!
Flaky Starter? Hit it with a small hammer few times and than start the truck...
