guys, out on trail with Scott on his 60, the rear driver side axle sheared right off (bolts) and came off, no drive. MWBE engaged the front locks and he can move front wheel drive. Thoughts?

Which bolts? Pic?

Full Float!!!! Yeah! Pull axle, duct tape to cover hole, drive out

@GLTHFJ60 ..... do the side gears need the axle to be there to stay in place???

Duhhhh ... Found my answer .... side gears are fine.

But, like Beno said, don't let your diff fluid run out the end. Seal it up tight.

Sorry for the delay.

The beauty of the FF axle is that neither the axle shafts, diff nor diff fluid need to be in the housing for the truck to roll.

Glad y'all made it out safe

One modification to this ... If the diff is dry, pull both axle shafts and the driveshaft .... Or you will be replacing diff bearings and R&P gears

So I'm home. Now what? Any recommendations for who to take it to?

How do you even remove sheared bolts? Only thing I could think of is weld another bolt to the end and then wrench that off

Just got home,my thanks everyone for all your advise, thanks Rafael for te call and Rice for the Pm. We didn't have reception on the trail, only in the spot we got to post the photo. The 60 made it out on Front Wheel Dirve, impressive. The trail is pretty neat, passable with technique.

And huge thanks for your willingness to help. Lots of really nice people I've met through mud in two interactions now where my truck have broken down. Guessing I'm bad luck

With careful drilling you can pull the old studs using "easy outs". Then some new cone washers and you're ready to go. You may wish to do some mud reading on folks that have drilled and tapped for next size stud.

Glad you're home. Even better your rig didn't have a semi float rear end.
