I took the carb and manifolds off my 76 fj40, cleaned everything, new gaskets etc. Now it stalls when idling. It runs fine when I give it gas. Could I have some sort of vacuum leak? I see gas in the carb sight glass and all the emissions are hooked back up correctly. Any suggestions? It worked fine before I did anything.

so it runs good with gas? Maybe just need to adjust idle screw. Can you keep it running with leaving the choke knob out a little?

And have you retorqued the manifolds until the torque does not change?

leak

Seems like you could have a vacuum leak Id try loosening the bolts and wiggle fit it again and re-torque---but check the carb base before you do JIC

Also recheck your vacuum line connections

Did you reconnect the wire for the fuel cut solenoid?

It will run with the choke open a little bit and dies when the choke is closed. I have re-tightened all the bolts on the manifolds and carb. It still stalls out. I'm not sure what to try next...

Update. It will idle when I disconnect the rubber line from the intake manifold to the emissions computer and put my finger over the port on the intake manifold where the rubber line was connected. does anyone have any ideas?
