OK... so my heater core went out and I was not too worried at first because it is summer, but I have come to find out that none of the local parts stores can get it. all the manufacturers have stop making them. Does anyone know who carries it or where I can get one or if there is one that works in its place.

Thanks

oh yeah... I have an 88 FJ62

When I look up the part number for the FJ62, it shows that it has been replaced by the part number for the FJ60 front heater core: 8710790A07 (it is the front heater core that you want, right?). This part shows up at 1sttoyotaparts.com as being available from Toyota ($260). So you might go back to your parts guy and ask for an FJ60. I can find some cheap ones online for $86, but the picture has three tubes, and I'm pretty sure the OEM one only has two ports.

I see heater cores listed on Rock Auto and the advance autoparts web site. Don't know if they are any good, but they are listed.

I went to advance, checker, and Pep Boys. No one can get it. I'll try the FJ60 part number and see what I come up with. I am no way paying $260!!! ouch!

Thanks guys. any other advice would be appreciated.

Take the offender out and see if it can be repaired. You might have luck at a motorcycle shop, they often know people who specialize in repairing small radiators.

I have a leakfree heater core out of an 1983 60 series also..$75.00 plus the ride

Try Napa or Oreillys.I got mine at Oriellys for about 80 bucks I think.I checked online to see if they had one listed but they don't.I just called up the store when I got mine .They had it in about 2 days.
Or Napa. Here's a link

napa had them in my town. had to be ordered. for about $260 tho..

this is one place I would want to use OEM or as close as you can get, its a job I am betting you dont want to do twice

Try Performance Radiator, pretty sure they have them, they do for the 40 series

I definitely don't want to be doing it twice. thanks guys for all the help. I'll let you know what I find

Yeah try radiator shops in your phone book. If you are worried about the quality the shop can pressure test the unit out of the box to make sure it's a good one! Just treat it nice and don't bend on the hose extensions during installation.

Hey just in case this helps... I was cleaning out my truck and found the receipt from O Reillys. The cost was 59.99 and the part # TPR399319. But thats for a 60, however I think they are the same. I Like to use factory parts when I can but this was about 2 hundred bones cheaper and I've never had any problems with after market heater cores plus they had this one to me fast. Mine didn't leak it was just so plugged up with junk from the last 20 years it barely blew warm even after flushing it,flushing the system and burping the system. FYI be very careful with the copper lines under the hood. I wish I would have been. They're a pain to get after you jack up the old ones.
Good luck

no luck finding one at auto parts stores. they all say the manufacture has discontinued them.

I have tried partsamerica(checker, kragen, and affiliates), napa, and pepboys. they all show they carry it on line but when you order it they call me and tell me the bad news.

searched the part number on oreillys but nothing

jtoutfitters does have it for $119 i think that might be my best bet.

performance radiator has them too for $109. better deal!!! and free shipping. placed order I'll let ya'll know.

Rick,

no i have not tried radiator shops. it is my daily driver so it would be nice to get it done in one day and not have to wait. I will save that option as a last resort!
