remove everything so you can get a decent purchase on that sucker, use a closed end wrench so you dont strip it, use heat, use penetrant, tap the wrench with a hammer until she lets goSunday AM update - Yep, I think Mandingo and bj70bc win. Now what do I fo? If it is a leak at the temp sensor , is that an easy fix/teplacement? Remember, this is 50 years old and every threaded component is frozen in place. I’m thinking getting access to the sensor is the tough task.
This. Report back when you can!Actually, now that I look more closely at your picture, where the flashlight is shining, is the temperature sender and the union. Those are considerably easier to get out with a deep socket. I believe it's either 19 mm or 17. The union is no longer available, but if I remember correctly they are brass so once you remove it just clean it up and put a new OE temperature center in there, assuming that is the source of your leak.
LFG! Great to hear!Friday evening 10/25 Update - You folks are amazing. This all settled out as, NOT a blown head gasket, NOT some complex oil leak, NOT an expensive “do I dump the truck or repair” decision. All I had to do was reach far with a pair of pliers and tighten a hose clamp on the heater unit coolant supply line! Blue sky opened up when I called those masters Lance and Jack at Iron Pig in Fredericksburg, VA. They very patiently bit their lip to explain, hey, just tighten the hose clamp, that’s all you have to do. So after work I was out there and now, all is well. The cruiser is rolling again in its 40th year, with much pep, no white steam/“smoke”, and that classic hum-n-rumble of a 60 beating all odds. An amazing horse!

It might just be the photo angle but the base of that hose where the clamp is looks a bit swollen. I’d do a,squeeze test just above he clamp,to ensure there are no soft spots in the hose. Hose is NLA from Toyota but there is a Gates hose available. Sorry for not having the number offhand but if you search FJ60 coolant hoses there is a great thread here with all the alternate part numbers you could want.Friday evening 10/25 Update - You folks are amazing. Honestly that hose has probably been on there since at least when he purchased it in 1999. Should it be replaced? Yes, but this is the first time it has had this issue...I think the hose that's on there may be too big, that's why it's leaking. If I remember correctly it should be 5/8? Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
