Says the dude who is going to be needing lots and lots of discontinued parts in the future...

he, he, he....

Big deal ... that just means I need to be nice to Dan. Which reminds me. I need to hit those 3FEs in Santa Fe.

The Shaman is the shaman because he knows who to call when he can't get something...

he, he, he

I know ... like a R151F bell housing.

Did Mr. Miller just go to a salvage yard in Australia and buy all their LC stock? What about that place in Salida that was for sale a while back. He had a good collection of stuff too. He even had a PS pump and smog pump for my 60 that took a crap on the way to the HDC trip a few years back.

I just sent one to Alabama. The bloke is not going to use it because he is putting it behind a 1HD-T, so I'm sure I can get him to pass it on.

There is a 3FE at Capitol Scrap in Santa Fe Jon. What would it take to buy you a beer one day and pick your brain about converting my 2F in Lexie to a 2FE?

Ya, David said there might be more than one. Have you seen my PDF? That is a place to start. Otherwise, pick a time and I'll be glad to meet someplace to discuss the 2FE. Love my engine.

I have not seen your PDF, but tehn I have not reeally looked for it either. Can you email it to me? My email is joshboltrek at Yahoo dot com dot au.

I'd love to see your engine. Dan S raves about it (and he rarely raves about anything which runs on anything with a fuel one can see through). Are you in Santa Fe much? If not, maybe I can talk you into bringing it to the next HDC meeting:D

I really like the idea of a 2FE as it allows me to keep the same engine number. If we do move back to Oz in three years, then it will be a piece of cake to bring Lexie back so long as she has the same engine.

I am pretty keen to keep the gas system too, and I think I can adapt it from my carb to run with the fuel injection.

Oh, you can add 'Josh' to HJ47 if you'd like. I am toying with switching to my nom de plume 'Chamba' since I've sold Patches, but have not committed to the idea yet.

This will get you started. I'm still working on it, mostly fuel pump issues.

Wow, that is fantastic!

I had the same fuel problem when I did the Vortec conversion on Patches. It seemed like every in-line pump I used would result in starvation issues in some situation/temp/load. It was not until I broke down and put a factory Chevy fuel pump in the tank using all associated lines, etc. that I was finally rid of the starvation issues. Is it something which is worth doing in a conversion here?

I'm not familiar with the FJ62 in-tank pump (I assume it is in-tank), but if it would fit in your under-seat tank, I wonder if that would solve it? I would probably try that route on my LX as it is an '84 and so has the tank between the frame rails.

The problem I will have is that I want to keep this rig as my daily driver and use the block which is in there currently. My plan will be to find a cheap 2F to chuck in there and then re-build my current engine at a somewhat leisurely pace. The low-end should be very strong though as iit only has about 80,000 miles on it. Of course, I have no idea how many hours at idle, given it was a fire truck.

gents, perhaps start a new thread on the topic of engine bastardization?

Hi Everyone, A few of you know me here, but I thought I would formally introduce myself... SandiaFJ40 is my handle. I go by C.J. My rig is a '75 FJ40 that I have been working on for a while now. It's getting close to being done, so I might as well post up a picture or two. Beno is a friend and jstincse is not far from my house... DanS HJ-45 is a friend as well... Looking forward to meeting you guys soon!

Is that a Full Float Rear axle I spy there? Or just some goofy hub cover?
