My brother has graciously let me store the top of my cruiser in his shed for over a year and now wants it out. I've got a detached garage to put it in now and he wants his shed space back.

But the cruiser isn't exactly running right now. I've got a trailer but the top is bigger than the trailer. What's the best way to get it home?

I was thinking I could use some C-clamps to run some boards across the sides of the trailer so the wider top would rest on them. But that might make it harder to strap down securely. Should I keep the boards idea but lay it upside down on the boards instead?

Or I can just help him drag it into the yard beside his house until I get the cruiser running. I don't have any plans to reinstall it in the future but my wife disagrees with that plan so I don't want to damage it during the move despite it's piss poor condition.

Or you could ask someone with a car trailer to help you move it. ;)

How about disassembling it? If you remove the side panels from the top, it might fit into your trailer a little more securely.

as long as its tied down well it should be fine, its not that heavy, just big

It will fit insde a full size truck bed. Ive hauled 2 home in my ford before.

best bet...don't forget to strap it down....

you could always buy a 2x4 from home depot, rent their truck, pick up the top and move it, then return the truck.

we couldn't get the hard top to fit in my 07 screw. top was just inches to wide.

i would either rent i trailer, or take it apart just for piece of mind like someone else said
