Has anyone fit a Group 31 battery?

My truck is 1200 miles away so I can't go measure it...curious if we can squeeze a bigger battery in the stock location, or if the best bet is just to add a secondary smaller-ish battery.

I was able to fit a Die Hard Platinum in there. Tight fight but I'd rather do that than a dual battery set up

What size did you use? OEM?

its the 31M

Awesome - thanks!!

Did you have to modify the bracket at all or just squeeze it in?

I just squeezed 'er in. If I remember right, I had to get a longer J bolt to hold it one side down.

Thanks for the tip. On my upgrade list when I need a new battery (or sooner).

I see a few people doing this here and on different forums, is it being done because a group31 battery is a marine battery and can handle a longer/more drain and still start?

More amps = more power for accessories/winching without going to dual setup.

So what's the choice for a 31 group size battery? Walmart or Costco?

@subspd I haven't been able to find a Walmart or Costco near me that carries a 31.

Around here, Batteries Plus or the regular auto parts stores are the only options.

Report back if you do find one.

You’ll need to fab or buy a different battery tie down but it fits good enough.

I used a BATTERIES PLUS X2 Power, deep cycle, off road battery. It has 960 CCA and a 5 year warranty. Pricey but I am very happy with it. Also, it's very heavy... possibly over 60lbs.

FYI: I only went from the stock 24 up to the larger 27 and it was also tight but slipped in without any modifications to the box or J brackets. So not a 31 as discussed in this thread but I am sure they carry in a Group 31..

I am thinking a 27 would be all I need since I don't run a fridge. But a 31 might be best long term...

Good review of batteries but not 31s

Well I just checked under the hood and my factory original Lexus battery is a 27f so no upgrade for me. Must have changed mid cycle. Mine is a 2008.
