Hi folks,

Hope I am not breaking any written/unwritten rule here by posting an early 40 question. Here goes, I have a top that I pulled off of a carcas in a Salida CO junk yard years ago. The hard top itself has a roof vent in the rear 1/3. The vent is about 4"X10" and most definetly factory. It closes with an early 60's vent window latch. So here is the question, could this be a 25 top? I can't remember for the life of me what the body looked like.

could be an FJ25 but more likely it is an early FJ40 top...... both the FJ25's and FJ40's had the vent in the roof. I believe the 40 came with them through 64. Does the hardtop have the high door posts as well?? If it doesn't have the high door posts it is def. a early FJ40 top

x2 i had one from a 64 fj40 with the vent and no high posts and bifolding rear hatch...cool thing to have :)

I think 64 is a little late. Mine doesn't have one and was most likely a late 63 production. I think they were 62-63.. JMHO

Well I have a 1962 FJ40 with the vent and it has the high door posts and have seen other early 40's with the high posts.

If it weren't for those it would be realllllllllllllllly quiet here........... :D

To sum up what everyone said, and my bit too.........Yes, it could be a 25 top or a '61 to '62ish FJ40 top. I don't think there is a way to tell beyond that from the top alone.

Thanks for the responses guys. The sides to the top look just like any other 40 sides door post wise. So I guess that early 40 it is. I am planning to use it on a '66 Fj-40 that a neighbor said "take it away".

as does mine :D sorry if my wording in the response wasn't clear I was simply trying to say if he didn't have high door post he could rule out it being an FJ25 top
