@JohnVee
The list just keeps getting longer. :) I pressure washed the undercarriage yesterday so it would not be so greasy for you guys and apparently I knocked off a piece of rust that was holding the fuel line together. So now I have a pin hole leak in the hard fuel lines on the frame. I have new fuel lines on order should be here Wednesday.

List of things to do:
Front birf rebuild
Replace one brake line
Replace two fuel lines
Oil pan gasket
Rear main seal (which will include dropping the trans/TC)
Rear pinion seal

I think we can do the above list in one day. That does not include re-installing the trans/TC. I will take my time cleaning and resealing it.
I will also have a few :banana: jobs someone can do in between beers.

@GLTHFJ60
What is a Cummins? But seriously, you are more than welcome to work on your rig. I would like to watch and learn. None of my tools have ever touched a diesel so they may not work right.

Well nevermind, that list is longer than I thought! We'll get to the valve adjustment on my motor if we feel like it.

I'm pumped!

If we can get the birfs rebuilt and the trans/TC pulled I'll be happy. I can do the rest by myself at a later date.

Weather looks nice. High 54, Partly cloudy.

I'm looking to get a head count.

Definite:
Johnny C
John V
David M
Eric F
Chris J- Jeep friend of mine. He can be converted. Secretly, I think that is why he is coming.
joyridaz
Jason
Chris B- another friend of mine. Does not care about vehicles but he can man a grill and shoot the #&@* with the best of them.
Shaun G
Jimmy B- my crazy gear head neighbor. He won't be working, he will be drinking and "supervising"

Maybe:
Jim S
Al V

I think that was resolved by Al not actually having one. Ask Rice for details.

I would love to make this but I have a prior committment in the late morning. If I come it will have to be after lunch. Looks like it will be good wrenching weather.

We're going to miss you Dave. As fast as Crockpot went together we could be done by lunch with you here.

ARE YOU READY!!!!!

HAMOM parts.webp

I received the rest of my parts today. I don't expect to get to all of this on Saturday.

It looks like we are going to have a good crowd, good weather, and good times. Check post #23 for the current list of attendees.

Two requests:
1- If anyone has hard copy FJ40 manuals bring them please. I have digital copies of everything I need and will print off pertinent pages, but it would be nice to have an actual manual.
2-It has been suggested that I have some extra inner axle seals on hand in case one gets buggered up. It's a little late for me to order extras, so if someone has some laying around bring them just in case.

Any tool requests?

Plans to lower tcase? Ive done it two ways. Remove trans tunnel strap to a engine hoist shoved through nd open door and lower to a creeper. Also have put a 4x4 across the door sills windows down doors shut and a chain hoist on it to lower unit.

Of course at stock height it may be possible to lower it down onto a modified floor jack.

@jfz80
We should be OK with tools. If you want to bring the basics you can.

I want to remove the trans/TC to get to the RMS and have better access to clean and reseal it. I have a cherry picker and will take the doors and trans hump off today in preparation.

Aw shucks! The CP was running fine when I took it over. The club joked about it alot but it was and still is a solid truck. All I did was doll it up a little and sort out a few gremlins.

It always seems like Karate gets in the way of club functions. This time my daughter, Ava is pre-testing for her black belt. Ava is 7. Basically it is an informal black belt test that will tell Sensei if she has any chance of passing the test and it will point out the areas where she will need to concentrate her training before the real test (in 1-1/2 mos.). The pre-test time got moved to 1:00 which pretty much kills the day. Oh well...y'all have fun. Wish I could be there to help out.

Kindred spirit. Tae kwon do is why I can't make it.

Whoever is just standing around holding beer be sure you put a camera in their other hand. Lots of pic.

I use an ATV jack to drop trans and T-case, works rather well.

Looks like @1974FJ is going to be able to make it for the AM and I'll have @ontherxs riding with me from RDU.

I'll bring the regular toolset for doing a knuckle job, brake line flaring tools and some nuts, and some other odds and ends.
