question: Is there a reason you chose to twin stick the t/c instead of just removing the shift gate. Is that possible with the toybox?

There is a new thread on this subject on the Marlin forum
4.7 toybox install questions behind a h55f

It looks like the H55 output shaft gets cut down. I guess this means the tranny doesn't need to be disassembled like and H42/H41 for a new output shaft install.

This is great news to hear!

Ya dude, that is a thread I started over on Marlin trying to get CruzrDave to chime in on. Notice the screen names;) Correct, the output shaft on the h55f gets cut down. I should have some solid install information in the near future.

Basically the stock transfer case linkage will not reach back to the transfer case with the toybox added without modifying it. The 2WD/4WD part would not be as complicated modifying the stock linkage since it moved back and forth but the low/high would be more complicated. It would have to move side to side with more range since the transfer case is back farther.

This toybox stuff is so over my head at this point in my cruiser career, but I love learning about it via these threads. I've been watching youtube vids of these gears in action - pretty impressive.

Aside: Can you disable these super low gears when you're say, driving two hours at 70mph to get to the rocks you're planning on crawling over?

That is one of the main ideas of it....

That is what is so great about this setup. I can disengage both the tc and toybox and have the 5 speed and cruise at 75 mph on the highway. Then when I get to trail engage one or both of the tc and toybox and have very low crawl ratios.

As far as the low/high goes, if you lengthened the high and low lever on the transfer case to meet the linkage rod, like you said it would require lots more side to side shifter movement.
But....Say if you lengthened the linkage rod to meet the stock high and low lever on the Tcase, I'm thinking shifter side to side movement wouldn't be increased.
At least that's the way I will try it.

Damn I've been waiting on my Toybox a loooong time:frown:

You are right. I think this picture shows what you are saying? There is a picture on Marlin's site with a similar setup here half way down the page.

So how does one work this confiiguration? what are the two small levers for and what is the big one? I assume the small ones are for the transfer case and the larger one is for the Toybox? Extra levers and gear to play with? I love it :p

The two small ones replaced the old transfer case one shifter. The left one 2WD to 4WD and the right one High/neutral/Low. You can remove the shift gate on the factory shifter to go into 2L. The one by the console is the toybox that shifts from 1 (high) to 4.7 (low). Both or just one transfer cases can be engaged. With both of them in low the crawl ratio is around 200 which is way slow.

Is this considered part of the original shifter linkage or is this in the case itself? Please explain.

The factory setup transfer case shifter does not allow you to shift to the right when you are in 2H. The only thing that stops you from shifting into 2L is a metal gate you can remove.

Could you just move the shifter back and keep the linkage the same length?

The linkage uses the stud sticking out of a threaded hole on the tranmission. So if you moved the linkage back and drilled another hole in the floor there would not be anything there to connect it to unless you made something. I don't know if I understood your question right.
