Figured I should start a build thread for my new to me 2016 Lexus GX460 Luxury with Mark Levinson and Driver Support Package (crawl control, front/side cameras, safety stuff) w/65k miles. Picked it up a couple of months ago after selling my 2006 GX470.

Build philosophy is inspired by the Lexus GXOR concept but with an eye towards a realistic budget, camping, hunting, and fishing.

Sold my old 470 for $14,000 which covered all my mods, 25k miles of use, and the purchase of the vehicle plus a bit. Figured I would get out while the getting was good. Paid $30,000 for the GX460 from a Toyota dealer. In CO this was a smoking deal.

First mod was FJ Cruiser 8 hole wheels with BFG KO2 265/70r17 C loads tires. Good mix between weight, durability, etc. This is the size I'll be sticking with since it fits in the stock spare location.

Added an ARB twin compressor and Slee mount under the hood. The switch is simply mounted to the bracket. Since you have to pop the hood anyways this makes for an easy install.

Added a redarc brake controller for the little trailer

Next up was a quick and easy upgrade. Adding Multi Terrain Select. Since my GX already has crawl this only took about 30min to install.

Seemed like it might be gimmicky but after testing in the 20+" of snow we received in CO I'm actually quite pleased and could truly tell a difference between each mode.

And my plates finally came in. Sadly GXOR was taken haha.

For the trailer in case anyone is interested.

It's a 2019 InTech Flyer Chase with the offroad package. I added 200w of solar on the roof and a propex hs2000 heater. Weighs about 1,000lbs and has been super durable on a cross country trip and being drug on a lot of off-road/forest roads throughout the west for hunting.

That's it for now. Currently waiting on Ironman 900mm twin drawers, Ironman Foam Cell Pro stage 2 lift kit and coil conversion, and the CBI covert front bumper. Hoping to receive the Ironman stuff in the next week or so. CBI sounds like early May.

Welcome to the GX forum. Looks like you're off to a great start!
If you haven't done so yet, check out the sticky posts for after market vendors and many of the members builds to get an idea of how to plan your build.

I love your setup. I'm new here as well and just building up my first GX and glad to have you here with us. I also have a rare luxury+drivers support model as well so I'll look out for reports of the quirks, features, and specific mods you do.

Appreciate it. I see you're running the 6112 on yours. I had that on my 470 along with the 5160s. Loved that setup but figured I might as well try out the Ironman FCP stuff since it all totaled about the same price. Did you do anything for readjusting your headlights after lifting? That's one quirk of the lux+dsp that isn't well documented.

Before I put in my 6112s and washers under the rear sensors I marked my headlight top cutoff in my driveway on the back wall from a marked line on the floor. After the install, i adjusted the headlights down a bit to meet that line. There are two recessed screwdriver holes on the headlight to adjust. If you want to see it in a video check out GX*Bob on YouTube. I’ve have not been flashed for brights at night since install.

Welcome to the tribe and look forward to seeing the new adventures.

🪚🛠️🔧 time!

@Pirate, do those drawers come with a built in fridge slide? If not, look into the one sold by ironman4x4. I just installed mine and they are very well built, solid, and reasonably priced.

Is that aluminum framing?

I'm going to run without a slide for a bit. If it drives me nuts I'll get one but currently I can open the lid far enough to easily reach everything so I might as well save the money and 40lbs.
