They probably also don't have a lot of data to compare to. Can't be more than a GX or two a year with that many miles with which to build their pricing model on.

Being that the dealer didn't send it straight to auction, perhaps they picked it up at a very low trade in price (say $2-4K) and are trying for a flip. Still, can't imagine that being an easy flip to make, and most new car dealers don't keep 15-year old rig with nearly 500K sitting on their lot.

EDIT: LOL, didn't see the service history. Literally unloaded on Friday with a head gasket issue, now for sale for that kind of a price. Nearly 500K ain't bad for any motor, but it also ain't 1M miles like a 2UZ-FE will go . With 500K and motor issues, that's a Mechanic's Special and should be sold for more like $2K.

Remember there are a few examples of 1UR-FE's that have gone nearly a 1M miles (900-980K).. there were a couple examples on GXOR FB years back when they used it in the Sequoia as a base engine up until '12 or so.

I'm just being snippy as the owner of a little brother 2UZ-FE .

A few of the very old 2UZ-FEs have also had head gasket problem. IMO the best way to avoid those is routine coolant flushes to keep the coolant form becoming acidic. I'm not seeing any coolant changes on the service record for that GX. It's also quite interesting that it had 255,003 miles in January of 2020, then 332,841 miles by July of 2021, and 418,893 miles as of October 2022. This individual was driving nearly 100K miles a year.

It shows up in the 15 page but looks like transmission was replaced at 262k miles... not seeing mention of coolant change either. Maybe coolant first change after water pump failure after 400k miles.

Coolant was probably super acidic at that point.

Still, I'd be happy of my GX470 makes it to nearly 500K miles. That would be about ~23 more years of me driving it, and the rig would be over 40 years old at that point. Seems a long shot that I'll still own it in 2048, but you never know .
