You mentioned a power and economy boost of 1.5-2 mpg, was this with just the headers or after the intake, headers, exhaust?

Sweet build. Wheels are sick.

The MPG increase would be as compared to stock with the added lift 10 ply 33" tires, added weight of the winch heavier matching spare including all the mods and the headers but she definitely runs now I can average 14.5 to 15 mixed driving easy and 19 to 20 on the freeway at 70 mph with all the mods. I'm very happy with the results even if it is hard not to drive spirited the way she runs and sounds. also I'm also around 6000 feet + elevation so that has a impact on HP as well

Very awesome. I would be pleased too.

I may have missed it, but did you say what year yours was? Curious if you have VVT since it could complicate swapping the headers.

Mine is A 2005 Yes with VVTI no issues with the headers. I will get a video clip with my phone for a sample as I don't have a real video camera.

very impressive. So glad about the Doug headers! Hoping to not have to buy them but glad to know they are an option.

Hi all. First post here on ih8mud.

HiLex and DNP, you’re GX’s look great.

Can you confirm the color of your wheels?

HiLex is that Dark Gloss Gunmetal?

DNP is that Matte Gunmetal?

Thanks again!

So those are FN wheels with trd center caps, not trd wheels?
Are they replicas of the trd wheels?
Are they available for a lot cheaper than the trd wheels?
I really like that style wheel, defiantly thinking of getting a set.

The wheels on My GX are the FN wheels with the OEM TRD caps the color is the lighter Gun Metal with the matte finish. Previously in the thread I posted the info on the wheels as well as the contact information. You would have to contact Dustin at FN for availibilty and current pricing. Thanks to all of you guys for the compliments.

Thanks for th compliments. ths is my dailey driver and I commute about 60-70 miles per day so I value the comfort and the ride.

I added a 50" curved LED light bar from ExtremeLED, the mounts were custom fabbed working with Insane Fabrications Home He will have them available shortly. I wanted it close to the windshield and so far after two weeks I have no vibration or wind noise from the bar.

I have a relay near the fusebox under the hood with a switch under the steering column. The light is grounded to the mount and the Hot wire runs along side the glass under the windshield trim.

Hi all I'm new to this forum. HiLex your GX looks great! I too am inspired for my '09 GX!

Thanks for providing info on the light bar mounts....your light bar is very neatly installed.

Did you do a write up on your clean winch install?

I have been researching about the Doug Thorley headers with high flow cats and worried about a CEL due to excess airflow.....looks like you haven't had any issues which entices me to do a similar set up! As another member has said here...thanks for sharing your mods.

Sorry I did not do a detailed write up on the Winch it was more a Fab and go type of thing I used 1/4 wall square tubing and 1/4 steel plate to mount to the frame at the bumper mounts I closed off the ends of the square tubing and welded a winch mount plate I got off Amazon I also have 2 mounts that go back to the frame using existing threaded mounting holes. I got the wireless set up and mounted a switch in the engine cowling to turn the wireless unit on, the clutch is accessible from the top side under the hood I will get pics with the hood open. As far as the Headers 15,000 Miles and no issues I did have to add O2 spacers to the rear O2 sensors because I was getting the P0420 and P0430 codes, more info in the other thread regarding install of the headers and excess airflow,

the spacers have cured that problem and it passes emissions.

Installing the DT headers requires a lot of patience and not being in a hurry I'm a very skilled mechanic builder I had 6 hours per side over a two day period during the weekend, also my GX has zero rust which can make it even more difficult I have heard of 4Runner guys having to cut the bolts off and replacing all of them or cutting the manifold to get it out. I did not remove the motor mount I left 2 or 3 threads which gave me enough cleared when jacking the motor up also I did not disconnect the steeing colum it's do able just allow enough time.

HiLex, you mentioned that if you were to do the DT headers all over again that you would have ordered SAI bypass kit and installed the 03-04 DT headers. How would you get around covering the SAI holes on the engine block? Plug the block or modify the gasket?
