I didn't have any luck with searching for this in Camping and no valid search results here, either. Gutter clamp is all about roof racks. But I need gutter clamps for a different purpose than that. And the solution needs to be 80-specific, so here it is.

I need gutter clamps so that I can attach a tarp or ropes. Our 80 was (thankfully) sans the usual port installed roof-rack, but the only thing it being good for -- as a tie-down point when camping -- is likewise missing.

Something easily moveable would be ideal, with some plastic or rubber protection for the paint. But I can work with things and am not completely adverse to a semi-permanent mount solution, provided it doesn't involve drilling.

I was in the same EXACT situation - an 80 without the factory rust accelerating option, but the need to hang a tarp off the back since I use the back of the 80 as a cooking table come prep table etc etc.

So, I found a couple of nice yakima mounts on ebay, 2nd hand. They were missing the bit that allows for the cross tube mount and also didn't have the locks so no one was bidding. They are big and heavy duty and I got them for a few $.

I then bought a few nice Kelty adjustable poles, this style -> Kelty Adjustable Tarp Pole at REI.com

Some shock cord from the local surplus store and some clear reinforced tarp online, since I like to see sky.

Works great for those damp days when camping. You can adjust the side over hang to block some wind if needed. A deluxe setup versus my typical oz setup (where I do have a h/d rack on my 4wd)

and the following. In this case we purposely created a V in the tarp to collect rain water - not much standing water in the oz bush.

Water in basic & bucket - you can just see it streaming down into the basin:

George,
Thanks for that idea. A set of used gutter clamps form one of the rack makers would work. I'm hoping for something with a lower profile, but if I choose the right version, they won't stick up much.

I also went with the Yakima gutter clamps on E-bay. I bought 8 just to be overkill. A rubber skirt protects the gutter paint and they are easy on off, no tools needed. Plenty robust. Way cheaper than most options and less rust potential than most also.
