Would a DIY Gull wing parts list and patterns be something anyone be interested in? Just wrapping up mine and was thinking I could “share for a small price” all the research I did and patterns of the aluminum pieces. I’m waiting for my paint to dry, and then I will assemble and post pictures. Again, just curious on the interest, not selling anything here.

How are you supporting the doors when open? If you’re using a gas strut I’d like know what size and how you’re mounting it. Thanks for sharing.

I'm over in the 100 section but I'm certainly interested in your project and could certainly utilize it on my LX470. Little to no interest or activity in regards to gullwings over there. I could really benefit from these since I travel with my motorcycle and custom carrier attached to the rear and can't access the cargo area unless I remove the bike.

Here’s a couple pictures of one that’s assembled. Once I pull the driverside out, I’ll post installed pictures. I’ll also tally up the cost, but I’m gonna estimate it around $350-450, but the patterns would be way cheaper.

Strongarm has a full list of different ones. They give extended/collapsed/lbs

I am thinking $60 would be a fair price. It would include the following;
2 paper patterns
Material list with,
Aluminum dimensions
hinge part numbers,
t nut and screw part numbers,
locking latch part numbers,
gas strut part numbers,
tlock bulb seal part number,
rubber edge trim part number.
Directions on modifying factory window frame
And priority shipping thru USPS

How does that sound?

It might just be me but sharing and selling is to different things 😎
To be clear I have no need for gull wing windows.

I think @chubbybunny posted a list of parts he used and showed how he did it about 3 years ago. No pattern required his way, just used the old parts that came out to get the pattern. I have that pile of parts sitting in my garage, but I never got around to making them
I used his for my first style. They worked but weren’t as water tight as I’d liked. The ones he made were screwed into the body and sealed on the metal opening. I made these to go into the existing slider frame and retain the factory seal around it. This allows for any water to go down thru the drains in the factory frame like it would when it hit the slider windows.

I noticed yours seemed to sit differently in the frame and seal. Thank you for the clarification!

Leaks? LEAKS?!

hey now, I put a lot of blood, sweat, tears and sleepless nights into copying that design.

Thankless mongrels.

To fix your leak with "my" design, I suggest opening the gullwing, putting a fat bead of silicone all around the bulb weatherstripping, then close the gullwing back against the frame. Voila! No more leak.
