Here is a pic of Shawn getting the sheered off studs out of the knuckle. Thanks Shawn. Two bolts were loose and the other two had broke off. Resulting in birf grease everywhere. Thanks again Rob for the drill/bits and easy outs!!!

Some of my favorite things from the event this year.
1-watching the iron pig guys change out an axle @ midnight with air tools in the f-n woods
2-auburn 80 dude with wrestling mask take charge at the rock run
3-pinkie
4-seeing my sons face after he got his first landcruiser!

I don't consider my camera a "pro" camera, but it's not bad...

Here's a few pics of my carnage similar to Woody's from a few years ago. No fire and the wheel didn't go rolling down the interstate, so it made getting it stopped from 70+mph a lot easier.

Looks like the spindle nuts got loose and the rotor sheared from the hub. 5 of 6 hubs studs were missing, not sheared just missing! I saw them skipping down I24 as I was trying to get the 80 off the road. The lug nuts/wheel spacer nuts and spindle bolts were all still tight, the knuckle is good. The spindle is toast, and the splines on the Longfield are screwed, but I got a new Long ordered on Tuesday as well as the ARP hub studs from FROR, and am getting the rest of the parts from Daryl this weekend @ the CLC boil. So should have it back together next week. Gonna give Sam a call tomorrow and get some odds and ends. Will see if the guys at Hudlow here in Nooga can clean up the splines on the Longfield so I'll have a nice trail spare.

Shame I was too late for the Hardluck award!

Todd, I think you definitely top my hard luck for the drive home. I bent the exo cage on my truck from running into 2 overpasses. Mine is weirder, but yours is weird AND bad. Sorry to see it buddy.

Damn Todd. If you were local I would rebuild it with ya.

You have to be super OCD on how to get studs, etc in, especially on 80s. I use locktite on every steering knuckle stud and on the wheel studs. The hub nut should have a new locking ring every time. If you reuse that ring and the tabs have wear they can sheer and can cause that as well.

I am VERY glad you are okay, that scenario is a widow maker for sure. I had my steering knuckle drop on the Avocado, but I was on the trail. That was lucky for me and I overbuilt from that point on.

Good luck with the repair.
