The rain certainly plays havoc at GMP due to the steep climbs and large boulders.

Why the switch to CC?
I think GSMTR is the best event around and GMP is one of the best all-around parks in the SE. Everything is close to camp, having the pavilion is nice for inclement weather, nice to be able to fish a bit too.
Cc is nice, but is is more expensive, the trails are more spread out, it kind of like running into others on the trail at GMP, but not a Tellico style traffic jam. On the other hand its kind of weird not passing anyone all day.
If you saw a 95-04 Tacoma at GSMTR they were more than likely with our group (TTORA) and I think I can speak for all of them but I think we would choose GMP over CC.
IMO the trails at CC are too easy or too hard for stockers, and if you count them out there really arent a whole bunch of trails for trucks out of the 60 or so total trails. Dont get me wrong, I enjoy Cc everytime but if I had to pick itd be GMP.
Btw, June is hot. May would be better for us folks that dont have the luxury of an air conditioned camper or RV. The first GSMTR at GMP was in June and it was miserable at night.
Couple questions from someone who has chaired GSMTR.
Can you do a rock race at Windrock? If you can does everyone have to pay to go watch it?
Can you have a blind driver event? If you can does everyone have to pay to watch it?
Are the facilities private? Meaning can you control who comes and goes? Can you rent the whole thing out?
How will you handle vendors? Is there a place where they can come and stretch out their legs?
If you're asking about Windrock, you can go anytime as its a big operation up there and there always wheelers. More ATV's & bikes than trucks, but always something. Prices are the $17 per person per day plus camping or cabin costs. It does get pricey real quick, even for just a weekend run. There is talk of a run up there sometime soon other than this one that just popped up as a GSMTR test run. It'll pop up in the GA forum if it happens.Lowe Toyota said:Are there going to be any other opportunities to check the park out? What are the fees like if I (or a small group) just went up for a weekend?

The facilities at GMP are the best. Let's be honest. There is nothing that even comes close as far as facilities.

It's actually not numbered. 43 is a cross hill off 42 that's not on the map but Winchin Church Hill is another obstacle altogether.Off of #42. I think it's trail #43 and it's called Winchin Churchhill IIRC.
