OKAY OKAY OKAY. I LOOSE. GRILL GUARD IS GOING BACK! I just wanted to see the reaction on grill guard and I know now. Maybe ARB I will be after.
Dan, no hard feelings. Subject got way off the track and I apologize.
Nick, you have the point and I was being too extreme. I apologize.
I APOLOGIZE TO EVERY ONE OF THE LC MEMBER I HAVE OFFENDED!
i love my LC and i was just excited about the grill guard I always wanted. I got it installed and got bashed. But, there is a point on more damage done than safety.
Thanks.

No worries here. I've been in the car business for 25 years, my hide is VERY thick ;) .

Bkgiii, It won't fit around your front bumper :'( . The side plates are made to fit the 91-94 bumper. Sorry.

A guy I work with had an 80 and got his grill-guard painted the body color (in addition to the tail-lamp guards) -- cherry red --

-- then he got a 100 and did the same thing -- bling, bling... :)

Wow- seriously guys (mostly Nick)...I agree with everyone about the WAAG and other non-ARB/Slee bars being useless, bling-bling, damage-multiplier accessories, but what kind of impression do the bashing responses give to new members of this forum? I thought we took pride in the fact that we are not like Discoweb and other hostile forums. If you don't agree with his choice of a grill guard, maybe you can just rationally explain why instead of going overboard (good job, MTNRAT).

Sometimes I wonder when the hostility is so great toward non-hardcore wheelers-- are people overcompensating for the fact that they're not as "hardcore" as they'd like us to think? (Kind of like the guy down the street from me with the 80 with BFGs, ARB, OME, rear tire carrier, ARB roofrack, that looks like showroom with *never* a spot of dirt on it). We all started somewhere, and we've all been helped by more experienced wheelers at some point, and the ones I've met didn't have this condescending attitude.

I know people will come back with "don't be so serious" or "can't you take a joke?" lines, but the lack of this type of unwarranted bashing of newbies is what I thought separated us from lesser forums.

I personally feel people with real life issue flame others on boards such as this as an attempt to vent enough anger and stress as to not go postal at work or home.

But hey, it is just a theory...

Then again...it really could be sexual tension.

This could turn into a hijack!

hmm, keeping with the thread...I wonder if I should chrome my slee front bumper

CDan - thanks...I'll keep looking...I got sum of dem dere weeds to push down here in da' swamps..

WORD

Dan,

I prefer black pearl.... ;)

Really, the key here is that whenever more than one person is in the same room there will be disagreements.(Sometimes even just one person  ). It is important to be rational adults that understand and appreciate other points of view. Think how boring things would be if everybody lived exactly the same lives.

Life is too short to pick silly fights.

I like what Doug and Scott's dad used to tell them.

"It is OK to disagree. It is not OK to be disagreeable." (or something like that)

Wow, were you guys reading the same thread as I was? I may have been a little abrasive but I don't think I bashed anybody. If nothing else I was only reciprocating the attitude I was getting. Besides I don't think I have ever opened up on anybody on this board unless they were asking for it. And as I recall Adrian made several rash statements of his own. Maybe some of you should learn to lighten up a bit. And if you really want to know what it means to flame someone you should check out these guys. :flipoff2:

Oh yeah when I really need to go off on somebody I just go beat the homeless mercilessly with a framers hammer. :-*

This was starting to get ugly from the vantage point that I opted to take. I'm glad everything worked out okay and feeling were spared in the end.

Now, for everyone... :flipoff2:

strong bad!!!

check the email, check, check the email!

Here's how I got started

After 2nd child, wife needed a bigger car. I gave her my Tahoe, I took her Volvo. After 1 week, I missed the truck/suv ride. Sold the Volvo vowing not to spend more than we sold it for. Came accross the 94' with 85,000 miles on it. Bought it and have been obsessive about the vehicle ever since.

I went from never changing my oil to Front Axel service, Diff lock button, raising spare tire, driving lights w/oem swich, rear axel service, upgrade wireing harness, all fluid changes, purchacing SST's, FSM etc, etc. planning next 285BFG's, and OME (stock height). All because of you guys.

Guess what, I've never been on anything tougher that a dirt road.

The enjoyment and sense of accomplishment I get out of this vehicle along with the ability to forget about the day to day problems while on this site/and working on this vehicle is worth a heck of a lot more than the "descressionary" funds put into it.

Thanks to all of you.

Steve,
You're not 100% there yet. Wait till American Express calls to ask if someone has stolen your credit card because there is a $3000 charge to some sleazy sounding company called Slee Off-road. (pardon the pun)

I got started when, at 15, I had to explain to a very angry date's father why we were late when the Chevelle got stuck in the snow off the side of a dirt road. ::)

Never owned a 2wd since. Got my first cruiser at 16.

While that invoice is open, I need a rear bar/w tire carrier and a Slee Skid.

TIA.....Dan :flipoff2:

Oh, Adrian. BTW, welcome to the board. You will find everybody here usually very nice. However I checked, and Mars is rising over the eastern FJ40, Alpha Centari's weak gravitational pull has had an effect on Nicks alignment, and I hazzard to guess someone sold their landcruiser and bought a disco. In other words the planets and stars are not aligned and the cruiser gods were not properly consulted on step #6. Soon all will be right again.
Cheers,
Sean
