GOT Stimulus check?

I got mine. But I could use some community advice with planning my spending.

Situation:

I few months ago I ordered some new tourflex 2-3" heavy and extra heavy (r) springs since too many long, loaded trips mashed down my OME springs. Despite new Dobinsons shocks and caster correction, on-road stability (above 35 mph) needs improvement. It's too tippy; the suspension doesn't brace sway in either direction until too deep into that sway; it's not firmly planted. I expect new springs will help, but I doubt that'll be the end of it, and so I wonder what others do beyond just springs.

How to remedy that?

1. Extended sway bar links -- Do those who run 2-3" lifts typically also run extended links improve on-road stability?

2. Panhard -- adjustable panhards or bracket? Rear only (I know the bracket is rear only), or front and rear?

3. Anything else I should look into? Sway bar bushings, or other specific bushings?

Thanks in advance. And edit: It's a 92 80 series.

It sounds like you need stiffer springs and your problems will be solved.

The load imparted by a spring is directly proportional to the deflection and the spring rate (Force / Deflection)... so, increase spring rate = more load for a given deflection... you'll sway until equilibrium, which will happen at less deflection.

Take a real hard look at your rear trailing arm bushings.

• Correct rear swaybar links would be my start.
• IIRC you year 80 has a lighter duty front swaybar than later years. IF correct I would upgrade for sure.
• I found going to HD rear swaybar set up correctly made a HUGE difference for sway/handleing.
• You will not notice ANY change in driving with an adjustable panhard.
• You will notice a panhard riser bracket on the first speed bump. You will not notice any change in sway at speed with a panhard riser.

My 80 @ 7050lbs on OME J's no longer has noticeable body roll.

if anyone needs some motivation to play with RC Cars with me (@knewstance @CruiseLanderAZ )...

My other new hobby is absorbing most of my spare change at the moment...

Thanks, Phil. Very helpful.

I have a few later model 29mm sway bars if you need one. I went to the 23mm and I think it's perfect for my setup. Definitely check all of your bushings and buy a Delta panhard bracket or make one of you have the time.

And also, polyurethane saddle sway bar bushings are good, but poly eye bushings do not last. I went through several sets in a matter of weeks, then put OEM back in.

Spent some of it on gas to enjoy this sunrise this morning

@TWILLY I stock the Delta Panhard if you are in the city

I'll throw some cash back into our general savings since I raided that fund to pay for the new LX I bought.... :P

I filed electronically in 2018, so I thought, but haven't received anything yet. Should be under the income limits (unfortunately 🤑 ).

I'm not a registered Republican. I haven't received one yet. And don't expect to get one anytime soon. My friends that are still card holding members of the GOP have received the money. My plan, if it ever arrives, is to buy items for barter for when things go really bad.

I am a Trump supporter and haven't saw mine yet. So don't feel bad.

I am paying off my CC and looking to buy a house. Love the VA house buying program no down payment... Cant wait to wrench on the LC in my own place.

Forgot to mention in my last post, although not quite the same, last week received a small portion from the PPP for my wife's biz and just today another, albeit smaller amount, from our SBA application. Buys us a few months in hopes business picks up again. Tiny business get tiny relief but in line with she is and still saving her nonetheless. Personal stimulus funds will come, doesn't make up for the lifelong tax theft to date and to come, but not going to bite the hand that's for sure.

Saving it until this situation starts to turn.

Maybe this will help you figure out when you might expect a check:

@OffRoadScott Have you purchased a house before or will this be your first? Some of the options the VA system allows are great (I got our house that way), but the funding fee is pretty steep compared to other options that can be out there. Get a reputable Mortgage broker working for you, and as a "second" opinion, when you're ready to dump all of the paperwork to get a true pre-approval, drop your stuff off at a credit union as well. They also have pretty attractive options it seems.
As to stimulus check, I'm not holding my breath; We owed taxes in '16,'17, pushed in '18 and I haven't filed '19 yet. If we get it, I'll probably sit on it although it depends upon how long I get to sit on the sidelines from work.

Receiving a stimulus check isn't dependant upon whether you typically owe taxes or not, it's based off a gross income threshold.... <= $75k for single, $150k for married filing jointly. It gets complicated if you make more than that, you may receive something but it is decreased based on how much over that you make. If you haven't filled 2019 it's based off 2018 taxes. I believe if you end up making over the threshold in your 2020 taxes you'd owe it back.
