Got myself a 40 (edit: pics fixed)

Just thought I'd share with everyone my new rig.

1970 FJ40, manufactured April '70

It came with a hard top, bikini top, and soft top, two long jump seats, two short jump seats, tons of extra seat belts, 8k lb WARN winch, 4spd tranny (was column shift), and stock everything else all for $3500.

two very tiny rust holes (2mm wide or so) in the drivers side floor, a leaking steering box, a slow oil leak, the engine burns some oil, a really noisy rear axle, and loose steering

Plans for the rig (in order of priority):

1. power steering
2. 3 inch skyjacker lift springs, rancho 5000 shocks, greasable shackles
3. front mini disc brakes
4. rear GM discs

Then eventually interior/exterior stuff, fix that noisy rear axle, new clutch, and an engine rebuild.

This project will take me quite a long time since I'm a full time student, but thats certainly fine with me. Hope you like it.

Welcome to the LC comunity. Super deal on the 40! I spent too much on mine. Oh well. Check your link though, its asking me for your password.

Your noisy rear axle may mean you have a locker installed. Count yourself very lucky if you do. To know for sure, jack up the rear end and spin one tire. If the other tire spins in the same direction, you have a locker. If it spins in the opposite direction I would check to make sure you have fluid and also check your u joints.

Lockers are loud, but if you intend to go offroad, they are the best upgrade you can make.

Welcome to the club.

That overflow tank kicks ass....congats on the rig. Have fun.

Congrats and welcome.

Your sure it's not the transfer case? They are VERY noisy.
