Well since our first 80 is "perfect" I haven't gotten to work on it at all, so I get to dive into 80 series' with this '93. There are a few little problems I would like to get sorted out, and since I am unfamiliar with the 80 series and my FSM is further away than the computer, I figured I would ask here first to see if anyone else has had these problems and the solution to them.
Problem #1
Both of the exterior rear-view mirrors are extremely wobbly, (the mirror itself, not the body). The electronic control does not move them. I assume something is loose/disconnected inside?
Problem #2
Rear DS window used to work, but 2 days ago when I was rolling it down it quit moving halfway, so I thought I better get it back up if I can, it jerked 3/4 of the way up, and then I was able to "help" it to within 2 inches of closing. It is precariously resting at that height now. I am no good with power windows (40's don't have them
) but I assume the window, or window arm-deals that raise the window are off-track or something.
Problem #3
Front PS window does not move up or down, when controlled with either the DS or PS switch. The voltmeter does not dip, indicating that the window is not stuck or the like. I assume it may be a disconnected lead, or bad motor, etc...
Question #1 - This applies to both Problem 2 and 3, I won't really be able to know whats the matter with either window until I open up the door panels, however, I hate dealing with those damn plastic clips, is there a "good" or "easy" way to pull the panels? Any tricks?
Question #2 A buddy has a bunch of leftover dynamat (really $$$ sound dampening stuff). While I have two of the door panels off, any opinions on whether it is worth bothering with the dynamat? Its not free to me, so its not a "just try it and see how it works" kind of deal.
Lots of questions, I know, but I appreciate any help, ideas, tricks, experience that ya'll have to offer as I begin to fawk up s***e on the 80 as well as the 40.
