Unsure if this has ever been addressed, but does anyone have any recommendations for reducing glare at night? I've found in the past year or two driving at night stresses my nerves out (for lack of better descriptor) and often found that I feel i'm operating at maybe 80% vision- as in depth perception isn't always there or when a car passes me in the opposite with just the low beams on, I can't see the line on that side of the road.
When i'm in our Pilot it's manageable but I found last night driving my ES300 I was having a very unpleasant time making my way home because all the headlights, tail lights and every other light was directly on my eye level.
So i'm curious if there is anything akin to Rain-X that can be used to cut down on glare? Hopefully i'll be in the position to get a replacement vehicle in the next few months, but if not I need a longer term solution for the Lexus.

That's not a bad idea, but does it darken everything else?

It's terrible especially in more rural areas where your eyes adjust down to lower light then have to ramp up quickly at approaching lights. The recovery after is the bad part as you get older your eyes just move slower in recovery.

Problem is everyone else who has the same issue just jams the brightest bulbs they can find in their headlights to help themselves see better.

I got an anti glare coating on my latest pair of glasses. It's helped a ton.
Mine did nothing except make me wonder if it’s actually worse.

Im just ****ing glad that it’s not just me with this problem. Even in a tall vehicle, all the hills around home can make night driving unbearable when pointing up a hill as a car crests it coming at you, then suddenly it’s black as they pass.

And who else has the problem with their 40 door windows acting more like mirrors in the low light times? I’m not a fan of looking out of the passenger door window and clearly seeing everything happening on the drivers side.

How about getting a new windshield? If it's the original in the ES then it's probably got a ton of sand blasted miles on it. I've only put 2 new windshields in my vehicles, my former 1990 Eagle Talon TSi and my just recently 80. In both cases it was done around 130k miles and the difference was unbelievable.

I had them on my glasses but got new lenses and had it removed stupidly because I thought it was throwing off my depth perception, turns out it was my prescription....

Never even thought of that-It is a ‘00 with 203k miles so it could benefit from a new windshield. Don’t want to put the money into it though given I may be getting a replacement in the next few months..

X2 on windshield replacement. Wished I did it 100k ago. Soooo happy I did it.

If you go aftermarket glass it shouldn't be too spendy to replace. Mike at Windshield City in Chantilly did an excellent job on my 80. I brought him OEM glass to put in though. He's an old school glass guy with a shop.

Mike did a really good job on my '93. He sourced all OEM parts and took the time to do the work by the book. Wasn't cheap, though.

went with them on your recommendation. very happy

Try scraping your outside windshield with a razor blade then filling it with a rain x type product. Clean the glass with the cheap brown paper towels too, they seem to polish and get all the funk off the glass.

Sometimes I have to use the force when driving in wet shiny roads.

I was playing around with the idea of the night time glasses. Modern headlights are blinding.
Amazon product ASIN B078PZMX5H
Because I search for things like this at 4:30 in the f'ing morning... Inexpensive night glasses.
