Is it supposed to fit about like this? This is just sitting there, no hoses or anything yet...

That looks more or less right. I'd put the seat in before drilling any holes though.:D

A friend and I both have Aqualu tubs. On his and mine, the "side" mounting tab on the gas tank cover does not quite make contact with the bottom of the door seam, but the front and back tabs do make contact with the body.

Did you all put something under the tank - between the tank and the tub? A pad or rubber sheet or something? I have some thin rubber sheets, like the thickness of the cardboard backing of a notepad, that I was thinking of using...

Mine looks the same. I have a vinyl tool drawer liner under the tank. Here are a couple of photos of what we did on the door side of the tank cover. I'm sure it could be done better

Ok...finally getting around to plumbing in the NEW (brand new Toyota!) gas tank.

1. I would LOVE to see some pics of how folks ran the fuel lines to the tank... particularly the 2 that come up through the floor in the center of the tub.

2. Also the charcoal canister line that runs from the top of the separator... where does it go out of the tub?

3. And finally how did you hang the separator near the gas filler?

Thanks,
Mark

On stock trucks the canister line goes out the bottom of the tub under the separator near the door post. The line follows the rocker up to the engine compartment where the canister is located IIRC. My FJ40's are located over 30 miles away or I'd go shot a pic or two for you.

I do have all of those parts... what I don't have is a few pictures of what the stock installation looks like... can you take pics before/as you pull it apart?

I was just looking at your first picture again. Does your tub have an "indented" section that your fuel tank fits into? If not, you might have a '79 and later tub. If you click on my build thread (below), you'll see what I mean -- look at pictures 8 and 20 in the thread.

Yes, it has the indent... it is a 78 style tub. Thanks for the info... right now the truck is without a charcoal canister so I'll be adding one back in AND running lines for it. Thanks for the info and pics.
