Hey, I just failed my emissions test. No, the CO, HC, NOx was all fine, it was my stupid gas cap. So anyone know if there's a difference between what I can pick up at Napa, and a Toyota one? If oem's better hopefully my favorite parts guy will call me soon.. ;) thanks folks

Just go in there with an old rag stuffed in the hole.
Make sure it is dripping with gas and stand there with a lighter and say
"MAKE IT PASS"

what Hltopper said.

Ive got an aftermarket one on (PO) and it leaks when the front is jacked up for a while. Need to get an oem on there.

OEM just like $10-15

You could, that is if your are super cheap, get a new gasket for the OEM cap.

from my flu infested mind.....I think the gasket was only a few bucks less than the whole cap

Pimp,

A dollar seventy is NOT a few bucks............ :flipoff2:

Now, had you said, say, "less than 2 bucks" I'd give it to ya. ;)

Make us all drool. What did you get from Christo?

The OEM cap has a valve in it that may or may not be duplicated in a generic aftermarket cap. Don't save a buck on an item that could fail in a crash and ignite an unstoppable fire. I started getting whiffs of gasoline from the 80 in the garage once in a while over a period of about a year. Replaced the gas cap and never smelled it again.

damnit, I just smelled gas yesterday after reading this post.

I have a cheapie gas cap cause my wife left my OEM on the pump.
