Sad day today - but two different types of sad:

1) "Death in the family" kind of sad: Ol' Rusty Red heads off to the crusher today. Stripped to the bone and then, from what I'm told, beaten like a red-headed step child like they did to that printer in Office Space. :'(

2) "Roll your eyes" kind of sad: Recent vehicle purchases and associated espenditures have left my pockets quite empty... but my favorite beverage at the package store went on sale again finally, and for way less than usual, so I had to buy.... a lot. :o

On a brighter note, this time tomorrow I'll be almost to SORVP for Southern Cruiser Crawl - although it'll be my last TLCA event for quite a while probably.

it's all good bud, out with the old and in with the new. Rusty Red was just a stepping stone to bigger and better things like the ghecko, and the Taco. Look at all the things it taught you along the way.

It's gonna be a real bummer when you leave, I gots no-one to night wheel with anymore. Between you, Josh and Dave (who just sold his truck) we're gonna be 3 trucks down from the core group I started wheeling with now 5 1/2 years ago. That still leaves a handful of ole' reliables like John, Nick, Adam and Sid but the group is shrinking. :bang: I need to go recruiting I guess.

Jealous of you going to the SCC, have fun but save the truck for at least 1 or 2 more rides then you can break it.

im sure some of us newer guys will join in the "big wheel" group eventually. If i had the knowhow, id def have gone SOA over the SR. but im happy with how far the LC has progressed.

No doubt and having new members is the life blood of any club, I personally am very happy to see new faces and the potential for the club. By now I'm probably seen as one of the "old members" though I'm really not at only 5 years, I still think of myself as one the new guys too.

I guess I was more reflecting on the (not so long ago) days-gone-by and all the fun we've had wheeling and wrenching all the time. Kinda sad to see some of "my core group" (for lack of a better description) going in different directions but that's just life i guess.

On a good note, was looking through your build thread and you've definitely come a very long way in a short time, great work! Looking forward to see where you take the rig.

Wish I could be more active. I'd love to be wrenching and wheeling more often. I'm too far away from the "core group" and my schedule is just ridiculous. I barely have any time off and the generally required Thursday-Sunday to go wheeling just isn't possible for me.

Its understandable of why you cant come up that often. You live kinda far away  You should try and come up for a wrenching weekend sometime though...

I remember my first wheeling trip with the GA Cruisers, it was a clean up day at Ralph's and I didnt want to scratch my newly acquired 80 :meh:, ohh how times change...

You will join the "big tire" group soon enough, but in the meantime, you truck does just fine and enjoy it...

Did I just see a tear fall while you were typing this Mr. Sensitive... :flipoff2:

I do agree that our close group is evolving, apparently some people have lives beyond the GA Cruiser . Steve is for sure going to be missed (just like Josh), who else is going to blindly lead us into the crazy sections of trails we dont need to be on....Ted?

As for the SCC, we really need to plan a trip there, it is a great park BUT the event is soo good because of the guys that put it on...

Whaaat!? I had a little dirt in my eye. Guess we just have to groom a few replacements now.

This one's easy...SAM :bang: :flipoff2:

Agreed. Was just telling Steve last night I was REALLY TEMPTED to just say screw it and throw the junk on the trailer go but I just didn't figure it into the budget and the :princess: has surgery on Monday so that was the coups de grâce.

Next year? I googled it last night, it's just over 600 miles from my house.

I'm already putting it on my calendar for next year. I've heard way too many good things about this event to miss it again. I will be there next year FO SHO. :steer:

Those damned things are everywhere, still popping out from under the Dodge. I had to go on a killing spree in my tent about 4AM Saturday morning, can only imagine what it looked like from the outside seeing the headlamp flying all over the place trying to chase down all them suckers. I must've killed 30 of 'em before finally going to sleep. Fortunately either my nasal passages are blocked or they d didn't stink at all but it definitely sucked.

Man that sucks. Hopefully by November they'll be dead or moved on. I really don't want to bring a bunch home or have to deal with them while camping.

At my alma mater this weekend with the family. We enjoyed being back on campus for the day and see a parade.

Yea, up till about 5 years ago my stomach would cramp up and my hands would get sweaty whenever I saw The Citadel exit sign off I-26.

 I can certainly understand that.

FYI
A co-worker's (friend) son is a freshman this year. Based on what his father has been relating, the lad is learning a lot of tough lessons which are molding him into a man of substance and character. I have every expectation that his Cidadel education will prepare him to be a man that this nation will be proud of. The standards set by previous alums are being continued.

Very kind words. Thanks Larry.

Citadel :flipoff:

I never had the drive or the nerve to give it a go. It certainly provides a first rate education while shaping men into the type of leaders this country needs. Certainly most of the military schools of this country do the same although I have spent time at several of these places - USMA, Annapolis, VMI. I was most impressed by the USMA but a close second was the Citadel.

Hey guys, The wife and I were considering going up to Helen to check out the Octoberfest next weekend and camp in the 100. Unfortunately the state park up there is booked and the fed park is closed. Anyone have a suggestion regarding a decent camping spot to park the 100 for the night up there?
