Hi everyone!

This is my first post, but I want to start off by thanking you all. I have learned so much about my newly purchased FZJ80 from this forum that I've made it go from being virtually undrivable to quite dailiable!

I have been chasing transmission issues the whole time I have owned this truck. So far I have replaced the Shift Solenoids and the Throttle Cable. It's almost driving perfectly except for one more issue.

When I am driving it gently, when it shifts from second to third there is hangtime of about one second where the RPMS climb before the truck engages in gear. What could cause that? Thanks!

I have a '94 with same tranny and I have noticed the same thing with mine since I bought it roughly 7 yrs ago. It only happens with light throttle. I figured that's just the way it is. I changed the fluid and filter as well as adjusted the kick-down cable, but it still seems to happen every now and then with the light throttle. :meh:

Have you tightened the kickdown cable?

If you have the 442 tranny, this might help:

That was super helpful, thank you. I'm gonna take a look at the troubleshooting section and see what I can find.
