Thinking of swaping out my 4.5 for a later model 4.7 V8. Any idea on a tranny match up? Or if there is adaptor made?
Would like to keep stock tranny and transfer case.

Thanks,

Thanks,

You might wanna search a little, there's a ton of info scattered all over MUD about engine swaps. Research is key !!!!

Slee does this job at a high level, and it costs $25K. If you could look at a rig Slee did the swap on it might be of great help to you.

Thanks but I am more of a do it myself type person.
Have done lots of searching thru site but no real answer that I can find.

Call Mark's 4wd in OZ, or email them. There is a lot out there on google too. My guess is you would spend similar time and money doing a swap for a GEN 3 GM motor, which seems to be much more popular and better documented throughout the interwebz. And more ponies...

Perhaps you'll be able to skip out on an adapter going with a 4.7, but you'll still have to buy motor, tranny, fuel delivery, shifting, wiring woes, tune etc. JMO, and a toyota loyalist may see it differently....

the answers are out there.... it just takes some time to read through the build threads as they are long and there is a lot of trial and error as many of the writups are in experimental territory. Waggoner5's , superunner's, toojayzee's threads go through more of the workings of the system as a whole. boltripper's and luke311's document the package well but dont explain each step and why as well because it was being done at slee.

lots of good tidbits like this one from waggoner5 "Use the A343F out of a -01 V8 Landcruiser and control it with the 00-01 Tundra ECU" but that was in response to a build that was using a 2000 tundra as the donor. a drive by cable and pre VVT-i setup.

a few minutes of reading seems to show the kickdown/line pressure cable is the main reason not to use the stock FZJ transmission. The a340F 100 series trans is electically controlled therefore eliminating the need for the cable setup. I believe it will be able to retain the tcase though.

here is a good one, but there are others and lots of buried links in these threads. ProjectX in hardcore should have some more info as well.
