Speaking of which...What is up with the metric/SAE confusion?
I just did the minitruck ps on my '40 and used a GM pump. Thought I was going to go an a wild goose chase to find a "metric" hydraylic fitting for the box and SAE for the pump, but they're identical!
Now back on topic...Same problem with fuel fitting on the pump, I need to change the fittting coming out of the pump to a right angle and can't find one. I can come CLOSE in a non metric pipe thread, but hate to wedge it in there. I want to replace the metal line from pump to carb, but I was going to bend it myself....Dumb????
Dave? You out there?
Ed ???

My mechanic friend told me that the hydraulic fittings were the same, SAE vs Metric, for the most part. I don't have the experience to say for sure, but occasionally it has been the case. I would think you could find the fittings and pipe to do it if you look hard enough.

Well, I've got a fitting that's close and some 5/16ths brake line and a bender. Can't make too sharp a radius, maybe 3". I'm afraid that if I gorilla the fitting I've got(brass fitting into zinc casting) it may be a one way trip. Maybe I just ought to buck up and order the fitting and line from So Over Reamed.
Whatcha think?
Ed

Well, maybe I'm just chicken, but that's what I would do. I figure I do enough makeshift stuff, and if I screw it up a couple of times, I've more than paid Marv for it.

You're right, I hate doing sh*t over.
Ed

Plus, a used one from Marv is only 14 smackers, (just checked). If you build it, you need a flaring tool, proper fitting, pipe cutter, etc....

Got all that Dave, but I can sense hours of #%^&*#@%$$.
Like I said, I cant get any closer than a 3" radius W/O kinking it. At least in steel, had copper before. OK Marv, I'm bent over....$14 ain't bad but the minimum shipping kills.
Eddo ;)

Hey, do you guys think that another stock fuel filter would be a good idea to put inplace of the regulator. Do think that it would even work? Thanks.

That will only work in the horizontal as it is a sediment bowl and is usually installed in the fuel line BEFORE the pump. Do like Idave says and put one of those little glass inline filters in place of your regulator. Works at any angle, easy to see if it is clogged and easy to put in a new element. ;)

The regulator is on a horizontal part. It is on the horizontal part on the line that is in front of the valve cover. The bowl is glass so you could see the filter.

I would not spend the monies on that style of filter,(even tho I already have four new ones on the shelf) there is really no need, but if you really want to, who am I to say otherwise?

Install a simple clear plastic inline unit, and you are done. You should already have the sediment bowl/filter unit on the pass. frame by the pump.

Good luck!

I do already have the stock one but I was just throwing out an idea. I think that I am going to go with a simple in-line one thought. Thanks for all the responses. :D
