Fuel light

Hello I was given a 1987 4x4 pickup from a family member and I am getting to know it better and better each day. I was told that the gas gauge reads fine till about half way then drops to empty. Sure enough that is the case. I am wondering if this truck has a low fuel light like my 93 land cruiser. If so I am assuming it is on a different circuit than the fuel sender? I am hoping I can use the light as an indicator to fill up until I have time to look into what is the problem with the sender.
