I’m trying to avoid the troubleshooting steps in BE-35 and so on in the FSM.

Fuel gauge is new, the gauge never moves from below empty. The light does come on when the tank is nearly empty. Fuel sender gauge or fuel sender switch?

Welcome thoughts and opinions before I open things up.

Why did you replace sending unit, because old one wasn't working? Usually I would suspect the float is stuck, but if you're not getting any reading with two different units then perhaps it is the gauge. Sorry, this is only guess work. I'm afraid you might have to go through those troubleshooting steps.

I haven’t replaced anything at all yet other than the gauge on the instrument panel. I’m preparing. If the float isn’t working, I don’t understand how I would still get an empty light when it’s near empty. I don’t understand the system well. If it’s just the float, might not be too bad.

Perhaps the float is able to move down a bit but not up beyond a certain point? I don't know the system well either. When I replaced my fuel pump everything looked OK with the assembly, including electrical connections. So, I just shoved it all back in the tank. Wait, make that "carefully put back". :D

I believe the gauge and the low fuel light are separate circuits.

And a picture from Partsouq showing two different circuits, assume for gauge and light:

^^^ what he said.

Your float is stuck.

Pull a back seat.
Pull out the pump and sending unit and check it out. Replace the fuel sock in the tank at that time and use new copper washers.

You went to the trouble of replacing the gauge rather than properly troubleshooting the issue?

We had the instrument panel out, replaced the LED’s and figured it’s easier to replace the fuel gauge itself while it was apart. We’ll try the float next. Thanks

I'd have done the same thing.

Well, he already had the combo meter out...
