My Front Drivers seat seems to have some play in it. When I stop, the seat seems to slide forward about 1/4" inch and then spring back - making the clunk sound. Getting slightly to moderately annoying.

The local dealer said that the brass bushings on the seat track wear out and the entire track needs to be replaced PN 72020-60021 ($1584) Ouch!

Has anyone heard of this problem or know of the fix? If this is the real fix - anyone out there parting out have a seat track?

Are you talking about the seat bottom or the seat back?

The whole seat moves

The whole seat slides on the track about 1/4". There is no movement during normal driving, just when stopping. It moves forward and the sort of rebounds back.

Any ideas or has anyone had similar a similar problem?

Thanks

Bottom of seat

To answer your question better, it is the bottom of the seat that slides on the track, not the seat back.

mine does it as well, I just add it to the ohh well stack of issues along with the in gear idle vibration.

If you can't live with it, I'd pick up a used seat track from SOR.

Mine does exactly the same thing, and I agree it's kind of annoying. I've had mine apart recently since I had to replace the plastic gears, but I'm planning to take another look pretty soon to figure out the source of the movement. It only take a few minutes to get the seat out, so it's worth a shot. The fit is loose between the worm drive screws and their respective drive bushings, and I suspect that's the source of the movement. This assembly is not meant to be separated however, so it might be tricky to get it apart. I'll let you know what I find.

I had the same problem: https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/217564-play-seat.html

If I put the seat all the way back, the movement stopped. I have not moved it forward to see if the problem persists, but it might have gone away. Seems like a common problem and surprised no one has figured it out.

got it too.....let me know how you fix it :)

Keep us posted on what you find. I think your're on to something as the dealer said it was a bushing problem.

I have the same problem, if I keep the seat all the way back, the play dissapears. Whenever I have a passenger in the back and scoot my seat forward, the play is there.

Never had it on my LC, but company car 2002 dodge truck does it, and indeed its annoying.

I have this exact same issue. My driver's seat previously had the problem with the infamous missing 'white cap', so the seat would not move forward and back. I got the replacement cap from Nakman, but then found that the gear was stripped. got the replacement gear from Nakman and all was well with the motor, but then I notice the problem with moving back and forth. In Nakman's thread discussing the gear replacement, he indicated he had the same problem. He had to take the seat back out and tighten one set of bolts that was removed in the process of replacing the gear. I have not gotten around to removing the seat to check for that, but he seems to think it fixed the problem. I prefer my seat all the way back and when its all the way back I don't have any problem. One of these days I'll get around to seeing if I can fix it. I think I will PM Nakman to look at this thread to see if he has any comments.

For those less patient here is a link to the seat motor gear replacement thread - refer to posts #21-24

Yeah, I had a loose seat after replacing one of the gears, but it turns out I didn't tighten something all the way. So the first place I'd look for all you guys is make sure everything down there is nice and tight, especially those brackets that attached to the two lead screws. these:

Did anyone with this problem try Nakmans solution of tightening these bolts? Mine slides forward on full stops as described by everyone above.

I actually fixed this problem on mine. I think it occurs when we are taking the seats apart to do the gears. When I put it back together the third time or so I made sure to do very exact measuring to make sure both sides of the sliders were the same distance from the front. Also on that third try I saw somewhere in the gamviti instructions about not tightening particular bolts too tight (dont remember which). After doing these steps there is no more annoying clunk. HTH
thanks

That's what I found on mine. AND the assembly is definitely not meant to be separated because the drive screws have "caps" on each end that are welded on preventing the removal of the drive bushings.

What I don't know/haven't seen yet is if there is a fastener that can be tightened that holds the bushings in the drive bushing assembly. If there were and they came loose then that would explain the play. I don't think most people move the seats back and forth enough to wear out the bushings so that's why I would think there is a set screw or something for them.

I had this same problem and fixed it. My source of the rocking movement was the splined shaft with the plastic gear, not the worm drive. It was moving front and back inside it's white plastic enclosure. That shaft is contained from fore/aft movement by a rubber washer. That rubber washer degrades and allows the shaft to move front and back. No amount of tightening on the 12mm nut will fix this. You need to replace the washer. I used a garden hose washer that I trimmed down to fit inside the plastic housing.

Kind of a hijack - my apologies. The upper part of my passenger seat rattles. It too is annoying. Anyone else have this issue?
