Joe_E... what is that in the picture... it can't be a frame!?? Here in the northeast frames only look that good up until the first winter on the salt encrusted roads... wow! How do you have that in NJ?

x2 on drilling holes thru the center of the rivets (obviously using the ti bits) and hammer off the heads (much easier with the centers drilled out). i used both my air hammer and good old BFH with a hand chisel with good results.

That's exactly what I tried to do: broke many many bits (didn't get TI,) and the air chisel did much more poorly than BFH.

Then Dyno pm'd me w/the magic instructions.

No, I can't post them w/o permission. Involves a grinder, and some  :p

I used an oxy-acetelyne torch. Just wiped them off and punched them out. 2 minutes tops.

I had to remove Rivets to attach my arb bumper on the rear

I went with the Drill / Chisel / Punch method after finding this old thread and it was not easy. (I'm just a little guy but determined)

I only broke one bit but changed drill bits at least twice thinking a sharper bit would help. I started out using my cordless drill but quickly realized that I needed more beef so switched to the air drill. The air drill was quite an upgrade. I also drilled pilot holes with small bit and then moved to the bigger drill bit.

Then I used a 5lb mini sledge and a wide chisel to knock off the heads but that was one tough job in my cramped basement. The first one took me at least fifteen minutes just to get the head off but once I new that I could do it I just stayed focused and they all came off in just a few minutes each. Man those aluminum buggers are tough.

Next was the punch to get the rivet out and again it took a lot of effort to punch them through.

Grinder is definitely on my wish list.

I ended up Grinding/cutting and Drilling them. I was short on time, (and now Daylight) so i had to Quit before i got either of them all the way off.

Once side is still hanging on by two rivets, anf the other i haven't touched.

My welds for the Body Mounts and spring hangar aren't the prettiest but they will hold.
